Her boyfriend is a legal adult. Should he be charged with the crime of rape of a minor?
Why is it okay for "stars" to act this way, when were trying to teach our children morality?

She is not a role model for anyone ! This liberal socialist society deny`s the acceptance of a "moral role model" ! She is only doing what the socialist liberalization of society has allowed ! There is no shame , no guilt , and no common sense ! If anyone is to blame , it will be the finger pointing liberal alibi excuse it`s "someone else`s fault" ; and the "I am not responsible" for my actions which is in Liberalism 101. It this girls eyes` she has only done what she has been indoctrinated with , and that`s the 60`s idea that anything goes , and it`s your thing , do what you want to do ; and no one will hold you responsible for your stupidity ! The "village" will cover for you !!

my question to you is, why are you relying on Jamie Spears, or anyone else for that matter, to be a role model to your children? Shouldn't YOU yourself be the role model and not worry about what everyone else is doind on OR off tv? If you are a good enough role model then it won't matter what others are doing because you would have taught your child right from wrong. And who says teen pregnancy is wrong?? if she can support it (and I'm not saying she can or that she is in the right) and if she wants it...then who is to tell her no? In the olden days people were having children at 15 and 16 too... People have babies at age 16 all of the time even NOW. It's not Jamie's fault that it's being trapsed along all of the major tabloids and magazines. it is OUR fault (as a consumer) because we are willing to pay for these magazines. The juicier the details the more money we will hand out. Stop freaking out about something ONE 16 year old did and look at how you are raising your own child. If you are confident enough in your parenting skills to know that you have taught your child all you can about the realities of teen sex, then all you can do is sit back and let them make their own decisions. If you have done your job, then one 16 year old in a tabloid won't counteract everything you have enstilled in your child. As for the father being charge with rape/sexual molestation, if she didn't say "no", she is 16...it's not ALL on him. If he is charged then so should she. She is old enough to understand the consequences of sex at an early age and she has watched her sister do the same thing. She has every right to tell someone no if she doesn't want to have sex, she's not 2. I disagree with charging the father for rape, that is ludacris. ::steps off soap box::

Not a role model. No he should not be charged with statutory rape. The law in CA does not make this situation a statutory rape case. He

What bothers me most is Nickelodeon thinks they have a right to do a special on teen pregnancy.

First things first. She is deffinately NOT a role model to anyone I know (I'm a 14 year old guy). The father should be charged with statuatory rape because teh age of consent in California (where I presume the baby was conceived) is 18, therefore, Jamie Spears is not able to legally give concent and he is automatically guilty.

Excuse me, but I thought that this was actually quite a common problem in the united states, teenage mothers.

Hmm, should we blame the media, and the 'stars' or should we blame the parents and the schools?

I, personally am leaning towards the parents who don't teach their children the importance of having safe sex, also the school systems who don't do the same exact thing.

Teens are raging balls of hormones, if they want to have sex, they will, many are not educated enough to know 'I shouldn't do this without a contraceptive on hand.'

It wasn't rape, it was consented sex, and there is a four year age difference exemption, which means if he was 21 and she was 16 it would be a problem, but he's 19, thats only a 3 year difference so.. no he shouldn't.

If you're trying to teach your child morality, focus on raising an indivudial who can thing for themself, not another sheep who can't.

This is a difficult situation for me, as my daughter just turned 11, LOVES Zoey 101, and of course all of her friends are talking about it. She is in 5th grade, but has not had "the class" (she will at the end of the year) and I am still trying to figure out what/how much to tell her. It's soooooo frustrating! While I give her props for keeping the baby ( I do not believe in abortion) I do not think she should be allowed to continue with her Tv show, as it is geared toward the 9-14 year old age group. This is NOT the type of "role model" that I wish for my daughter. We try to instill better values than that.

There is an alarming number of teen pregnancies everywhere. Why is it such a big deal if it happens to a celebrity? It just goes to show that celebrities are human too. Moralily, one should not teach their children to be so judgemental of others. Parents should just talk to their children who know and look up to Jamie Spears about sex, and how this pregnancy is going to change Jamie's life (how she is too young for such a big responsibility). Parents can use Jamie Spears as a reason to talk to their kids about the consequences of having sex, like so many fail to do. Also, why should her boyfriend be charged with rape of a minor? As far as I know, they have been together for quite a while (before he turned 18). Why must people be so judmental of others? Just because she is a star, she can't act and behave like a normal teenager? Do we really want to teach kids to place celebrities on pedalstools? Or do we want to teach our kids that they are human, just like everyone else-- who happen to be on TV or the radio? Think about it. Really, the public should stop causing such a stink about it...it's making it worse for the children. I say to stop concentrating on bashing Jamie and all the negativity, and to turn this into a teaching experiance for parents to talk to their children. Again, why teach children to place celebrities on a pedalstool, and then when they make a mistake, that it's ok to bash them. That's just wrong. That's my 2 cents at least.

Ha! Asking "is she a role model" is irrelevant -- she IS a role model simply based on her situation in the public eye and "celebrity status". Charles Barkley tried to deny being a role model, and it didn't work for him, either.

Yes, charge his @$$ with statutory so fast it makes his "head" spin.

No, it is never "okay" for stars to act this way, but until we start prosecuting as though they're just an average Joe (or Jill), they will continue.

Letting a 16 year old live with a 19 year old? Jamie's mama is not a good role model for a mom.

This is tough.

She made a bad decision to have premarital sex, but now she is suffering the consequences and she is behaving very admirably by not killing her baby b/c it will be an inconvenience.

The father of the baby is 3 years older than her at the age of 19 so technically he could be charged with statutory rape, but since no one is pressing charges I don't think he'll be charged. He has to help raise that baby, so that's his "punishment", I think.

As for whether or not she's a role model, I'd say NO, but she is a good example of how badly you can screw your life up by having premarital sex!
