What's wrong with the original movie starring Kevin Bacon, John Lithgow etc? Why are they remaking it for? Who is starring the remake?

...that is correct; I guess the male lead in those Disney "High School Musical" movies, is slated to star in it, taking the role of Ren MacCormick; for the life of me, I cannot even begin to fathom a remake, even one based upon the off-Broadway musical, coming even close to being the same as the original... the original "Footloose" is one of those oh-so perfect and untouchable films...

i heard that they are remaking footloose..released by disney in 08.
