If you are strictly getting a bikini wax, they will make you put on disposable underwear. They apply wax and pull it off very quickly. It does sting for a second, but does not last very long.. If you are getting your entire region done, that is a lot more painful. It's only akward if you make it that way. It's the person's job to wax you and they've seen every kind of person, so dont be self conscious.

Here is a video from a site that frankly is against waxing, but it does show real life women (from the waist up) going through the procedure.

its stings for like 5 secs, then its just kinda a dull ache.... its not too bad..... i think everything is akward, so it was REALLLY akward for me!
