What do you think about Rudy Guiliani's idea of having public funded abortions? Even if you don't support him as our next president, do you think this is a good idea? Some people may think, "I don't want my tax dollars going to some girl's abortion" but then again, your taxes may be going to her baby for the next 18 years because she couldn't afford a termination. Are you for or against this idea? Why or why not?

Pro-lifers are obviously against this, so please, I am interested in the opinions of Pro-choice supporters only!

It's a medical procedure and should be paid for if the person qualifies for aid for health care. The same institution pays for Viagra for erectile dysfunction which is often due to diabetes which is often due to being overweight. So the argument could be made that this is also a personal choice. And the hypocrisy of the religious organizations are that they adamantly are against abortion but also are against teaching birth control and/or paying for birth control.

It's a good idea but it isn't a new one. It's been around since the late 60s. Under the current health care laws and practices it would be tough. If we do go to a national healthcare system at some point then it would be manageable. But along with that I think the government would be wise to incorporate programs in public schools about sex. That would include the option of abstinence but would also cover sexual education, contraceptive measures (condoms, diaphragms, etc), sexual disease information including HIV. The complete sex education at early ages would help reduce unplanned pregnancies and lower the abortion rate. The current plan of teaching abstinence only has proven to be ineffective.

Hell no, I don't believe in paying for anyones mistake. It's a preventable procedure and feel the people responsible should pay. I knew Rudy was pro choice, but I will have to double check if he supports this.

I agree with him. We don't mind our tax money to be wasted on an unnecessary war in Iraq, but for some reason feel stingy when it comes to providing health services.

If it's a legal medical procedure, then those who receive government-funded medical care should be able to obtain that procedure.

Yes people should have the freedom to do what they want with their bodies. The taxpayers however should not be forced to pay for it.
