So, the government is greedy and terrible, we are on a downward spiral, and mean people suck .......what's negative about that? Truth is good and good is positive, look at it that way.

If you can't, habbout the fact that millions of people get an outlet through this music? They let their frustrations out playing it and those that listen too (when its live) or they just allow themselves to feel their own rage and hurt in a place where no one judges them. Then they're done with it. It keeps them from doing something bad with their negative energy.

I speak from experience, when I got divorced I was so lost, hurting and enraged. Then I started going to metal shows. At the shows it was okay to feel sad or angry or lost or used and to show it. Nobody judged me there, I felt more loved than I did in a church. Sorry but its true. I tell my favorite band all the time that they are the reason I didn't hurt myself or others. Now I'm happy and at peace, but I'll never forget my metal people who helped me get where I am.

DON'T DOWN METAL.... it has a PURPOSE!

Haha. (:
i listen to death metal and i can't find any positive messages and i don't think there are much metal bands with positive messages in their songs.

That's what make them non-mainstream.

someone else said atreyu which is good because they rock and songs like Becoming the Bull are about everyday stuff. But nothing is going to be overly positive in metal like no ones gunna scream "eat your f*ckin veggies!"

Iron Maiden. They make books like "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" interesting.

I was going to say Stryper also (someone else beat me to the punch ;))

I used to go see them A LOT in the 80's and of course we had to make sure we wore yellow and black :)

They had some wonderful messages in their songs.
