1. You get 30 days to try out XBL gold, but use a glitch to get 3 months.

2. You can take steps to reduce your change of getting the ring of death. On the outside of the box, look for a white sticker. Look for 175W. If you get 203W, then look for Team FDOU, Lot 734 or later, and made in late August 2007.

3. Falcon is just the code name for the 65 nm CPU chip. The Zephyr had the 90 nm chip, and the 65 nm chip is supposed to have reduced heat output, so it's supposed to help prevent the ring of death.

4. You get an ethernet cable. Not sure how long it is. I think it's about around 10 feet.

5. Call of Duty 4, Bioshock, Halo 3, Mass Effect, Gears of War. They're all either 1 or 2 player, and XBL enabled.

6. Sure, lots of people have Halo 3, so might as well join them on XBL.

7. Warranty is 3 years for the ring of death, and 1 year for everything else.

8. Melting disk: False. Do you know how hot the 360 has to get in order to melt DVDs? Really hot.

9. If you have a working 360, you should be able to game for a fairly long time before you have to worry about the ring of death.

The free trial for live lasts 1 month when you first make your gamertag.
To prevent RRoD just keep it in a coolplace.
The new 360s have new chips (Falcon) that prevent the 360 from overheating, but if you get the RRoD there is a 3 year warranty on the 360.
The cord for Live is about 10 feet long and it comes with all 360s.
Good games to play on Live are Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, Gears of War, Team Fortress 2 (from The Orange Box).
Halo 3 is a really good game. If you are familiar with the previous 2 then you will really enjoy this one. Online is really good too. (Better than Halo 2).
As I said before it comes with 3 year warranty for RRoD. For anything else there is a 1 year warranty and you can purchase an extended warranty for 2 years for $60 (The information is inside the box).
Its false that it melts your disc (I havent even heard about it on blogs).
I have played my 360 for 4 hours at most and never had a problem with it so you can probably play for even longer.
Get Xbox Live, Halo 3, CoD 4, Mass Effect, Bioshock, The Orange Box and Assassins Creed!! Enjoy

Wow - lots of questions. Here we go...

Live has silver and gold versions. Silver is always free and lets you download demos, chat, etc. Gold is required for playing games online. You get a 30 day Gold membership free. After that it will cost about $50/yr.

Keep your 360 in a well ventilated area, preferably horizontally. Don't play it for extended periods.

Falcon is the name for the processor in the most recent run of 360s (starting around September production date). They run cooler and should be more resistant to the red rings of death.

The cord included is 6 or 8 feet. Not sure off hand.

Lots of good games. Halo 3 (yes you should get it if you like FPS), Oblivion, Gears of War, Lego Star Wars (great for all ages even though it looks like a kids game), Half Life Orange Box and many more.

The factory warranty is 1 year on everything except the 3 rings of death. MS extended the factory warranty for that problem to 3 years.

False. It does not melt your discs.

You can play for several hours before it overheats, especially if you get a Falcon.

Tips - HAVE FUN! Don't be a jerk when playing online with others. Do not get the core or arcade versions. The hard drive in the premium or elite and with wireless controller is worth the extra cash.
