i mean, the violin can be both classy, or it can be hip-hoppy, and then the guitar you can use to write songs. I love the sound of the violin better, but I'd like to sing with my instrument too. HELP!

Both instruments are fine. If you want to sing you cant do it with a violin, you can only do that with a guitar. Another point to consider is that a Violin has a short scale and your intonation has to be perfect because you have no frets. A guitar has frets so you don't have to worry about intonation. Good Luck.

I'd learn guitar first. It's very versatile to many different audiences. Then I'd learn the violin so you could have one tuned up and play it when audiences weren't expecting it in the middle of a song.

A guitar would be good to start with, because you'll be using it all your life. Plus, I tried learning violin, and it is SO hard. But really, it's up to you.

guitar is way better.... i personally love rockin out with electric or sittin relaxin playin some jack johnson with friends on a beach after a long day's surfing..... lol but whichever you think suits you and your personality and your lifestyle!

but what's stopping you learning both? you can rent stuff for practising if its too expensive! just be sure not to practise too much... it kills your fingers...
