I'm 15 and have had my periods since I was 12 (almost 13). They are still irregular, I started today and it;s my first since the start of August, is this normal. (They don't even come every 2 months etc. It can be as close as 10 weeks and then as far apart as 4 months)

I used to get mouth ulsars about 2 wks before my period but they've stopped and also I now have a bad leg cramp (I've never had them before during periods).

My mum knows and last June my doctor said to come to her if they have regulated but due to Christmas I can't get an appointment till next year.

I was in the same position as you when I was around that age, but then the doctor put me on the Pill and they regulated perfectly. This is normal for you, by the way.
It'll be well worth waiting for the doctor to free up.
Good luck :)

You are still young and your period will be irregular for a number of reasons. Stress, hormones, if you partake in any sports or aerobic activities, and even sometimes your diet. The pain in your legs could be stress induced or a sign of a cold (muscle aches always come with colds).

But just to be safe, tell your doctor about the leg cramps and see if it is necessary he does some tests on it to make sure everything is ok with your hormones.

As long as you have not been having sex, my bet is that your body is still undergoing hormone changes that it is bound to be irregular (I skipped 5 months once when I was 16!). Ask your doctor about going on birth control which helps regulate your period to once a month and also helps get rid of symptoms like the mouth ulcers.

Poor you. I don't know if it's any comfort, but some women are never regular, and I have this problem. What helped regulate it was Evening Primrose Oil capsules and lots of intensive exercise.

Incidentally, be careful about taking artificial hormones to try to regulate it - I did but stopped for a while, and to my delight (and my mother's horror and disbelief) I didn't get any for 10 months, and I wasn't sexually active at all. The pill I was on really messed up my cycle.

You might try taking vitamin supplements of some kind, you might need vitamin B complex. These are probably better than just getting articificial hormones because your body will manufacture what it needs out of these and whatever is left over just passes harmlessly out of your system.

In the meantime, go easy on the sugary stuff, that plays havoc on the female hormones and the thing is it's in almost all processed foods.

Honestly, it looks like you've covered all bases to figure out what's going on. Just keep your mother involved in what's going on and see a doctor soon after the New Year. If anything serious happens before then your mom can take you to the ER but it doesn't seem that extreme. Good luck!

Don't worry I started mine when i was 14 and they haven't sorted themselfves out until I was almost 18! But i had the opposite, i had periods like all the time. Also, my gran had very irregular periods every 2 months or so, didn't stop her having my mum....

that's pretty common for the first 2 years. I would wait till you're 16, and if they're still like that, see about getting birth control to regulate them.
