Hmm. Well, i love Christmas. But, in a way, i hate it.
I love the entire sudden rush of happiness you feel once it's christmas. There's nothing that can really describe that.
But i hate spending it with my family. In fact, i'm incredbily envious of those who have a large loving family that can actually have a christmas meal without arguing over petty things in the past.
My family is pretty screwed. We don't get along and there's been a lot of emotional distress in the past.
"my family" are my friends and teachers who actually care about me.
i wish i could spend it with them instead.
but, oh well, you suck it up and don't let it get you down i guess.
I just hate it because it makes me feel like i'm missing something. That's supposedly the best part of Christmas...being with the ones you love.
Yet that word is never mentioned in my home.
I can't wait until i'm older.
My kids will have the best christmas of their lives--i'll make sure of it =).

The overly commercial aspect bothers me a lot because the message is that if you buy something for someone that will prove you love them, and the more expensive the gift the more you love them. It also suggests that giving gifts is a way of making people like you. That's something along the idea of bribery. I'm not against giving or getting gifts, but I think we need to be clear that gift-giving has to come from the heart and not from some strange motivations about self-interest.

I am neither a Christian nor a Pagan so therefore xmas has no meaning for me. Christians believe that Jesus was born on December 25th, but it has been astronomical proof that that cannot be possible. Pagans celebrated the Winter Solstice which actually makes more sense to me. Most of all I hate the sappy way people act, the tacky decorations, and the feeling that one must follow lemming-like into the herds of desperate shoppers.

It's not celebrated for what it is intended. Ask a kid what Christmas is about and I guarantee that the majority will tell you gifts.
Rod B, what the hell? Any so-called Christian KNOWS that December 25 is in celebration of his birth not the exact date of his birth. Since you aren't Christian I guess that's why you made that mistake. However I have been told I am not Christian but I even know that fact.

I like most everything about Christmas except when people care about nothing but what gifts they will be getting.
Like in the 'Best Buy' commercials on TV. (Kids think their parents are a drag---until they see the boxes of gifts coming into the house!) Lame!

I hate the day after Christmas. Then there is nothing to look forward to, and soon you will have to take down the tree and decorations =[
