I am getting an xbox360 and halo 3 for christmas and i plan on playing it on xbox live. i looked on the xbox website and it said i had to get a gold membership. where do i buy a gold member ship, how much will it cost, and how long will it last and does it come with a headset.
also i have embarq internet (its high speed i think) how can i hook up xbox live too it?

The internet has to be cable dsl wifi or fios which means you prolly have a modem unless it fios. You either take your dsl/cable/wifi modem and take the ethernet cord and hook it up to the back of the xbox 360 as if you did with a computer. YOu would not be able to use the internet on the computer if you choose this method unless you take the modem back. You could buy a router if you dont have one connect it to your modem and take an ethernet cord and run it to the 360. If you have the 360 far away from the computer you buy or have a wireless router and buy the wifi connector for the 360 which is really expensive 100 dollars. The live is free one month then 8 dollars a month after that. Or you could pay 50 dollars a year.

according to embarqs website you have speeds fast enough even if you have the slowest plan so you should beable to if you hook your internet up through ethernet.

You say you think it's high speed. High speed is either DSL or cable internet. If it's not one of those, it won't work.
You have to have a gold membership to play online with your 360. It comes with 30 days free. After that you can either sign up for it online through your 360 or buy a subscription card at your local electronics store (it will be with the 360 accessories). It costs about $50 per year.
