Now that Putin and Mahmoud are in South America, you might want to lose the sarcasm and take the threat there a litlle more seriously. We care about threats to our freedom.

We complain about him because many liberals listen to him and think he's brilliant -- I think it has something to do with massive abuses of power in the name of the people. Besides that, he's a melodramatic, impotent little crackpot who, despite his near-stranglehold on the government, can't even convince enough people to vote for him to make him eternal dictator; therefore it's fun to make fun of him.

Oh, and I at least am being consistent: I really don't give a damn what he thinks of this country. If we made all of our decisions based on what the rest of the world wants us to do, we would have been socialistic within three years of the inception of the United Nations and communistic within two more, or vaporized by the Soviets within the same amount of time.

I don't know if he has WMD, but I do know that he's a dictator. And I hate the idea of a dictatorship almost as much as a monarchy.

And I do not and never have considered myself to be a member of the "right".

It's probably because Chavez is a champion for poor people. It makes sense because he grew up surrounded by poverty. He was not one of the privileged. It does seem that he has made some missteps but he has done some good including helping out poor people in Massachusetts with heating oil. I don't think he's a bad guy. Anyone who stands up for the poor is not a bad guy in my book.

i'd guess your premise that the right doesn't care what the world thinks is off base.
