Wow - so many questions - I suggest you Google the topic and read about it more in depth. Brief answers as follows :
1. The Allies won the war. Not just the Soviets, not just the Americans, not just the British. You'd be surprised how many countries formed the Allies.
2. There was certainly more than one loser as well. What about Japan? What about Italy? Again you'd be surprised how many countries formed the Axis powers.
3. You can't reduce a world war to good guys v bad guys. Hitler and his cronies were certainly evil, but the majority of Germans were decent people who happened to believe passionately in the cause they were fighting for. Think about the Soviets - in WW2 they were part of the Allies (in your description the "good guys") but, all of sudden after the war because they were communist they suddenly turn into the "bad guys" - sorry this is way too simplistic.
4. Easy to criticise Hitler for the Russian campaign but stupid? No. If he had captured the oilfields at Stalingrad that would have crippled the Allies.
5. Germany was certainly not weak - they proved that in the first few months of the war in their blitzkreig invasions. If the british Army had been trapped at Dunkirk, the war could have finished there and then.
6. Yes the Nazis did panic when they realised they were about to be defeated - many top Nazis committed suicide.
7. Many of those responsible for the Holocaust were given the death penalty. You cannot, however, blame an entire nation for this - as you say later, Germany was divided.
8. Many people followed Hitler because he offered them a better life (Germany was coming out of a deep economic depression). Of course Germany was divided - Britain was also divided over whether to go to war or not.
9. The point of WW2 was basically the Axis Powers trying to sieze extra territory and the Allies defending against that.

I want to address the crazy notion that I read so often regarding who won the last great war. the notion is that if Germany had won, we would be speaking German now. Just one word for that -- NEIN!!!! Look at the endless wars that have gone on in history around Europe. Just the fact that one nation was a stronger one than another had nothing to do with the language after that. If that were the case, the English would have spoken Roman, Celtic, German (From the Saxon conquest), French as their official languages and none of those things came to pass. Does Germany speak English as the official language due to our winning the WW2. Of course not. Besides all that, German is just to hard a language to learn-all those vowels and long words really screw my brain up. the beer drinking habits of Germans woulda been ok I guess.
Now a lesson in history to help you get your bearings. there is an expression that goes "Might makes Right" that explains who won WW2. Since the allied cause was the mightiest, it was therefore 'Right'. There were many more real losers in the war than Germany. Don't forget that there were three nations making up the 'Axis powers'. Italy was a weak participant and when Mussolini was run off, they were outta there. Germany and Japan were the largest losers due to the destruction rained down on their countries by Allied bombing.
If you try to find a point to any of the never-ending wars waged by humanity, you will find a fruitless search in philosophy that would leave you more confused than you are now.
Take a lesson from me, one who has been through the horrors of war and its aftermath. Devote your life to one of understanding and speading of peace on Earth, good will toward men.
Happy holidays

First off, the Allies won WWII, which means UK, USA, and USSR far all intents and purposes. These nations divvied up the spoils amongst themselves.
As far as the war having only one loser, I think I could find some 4-armed people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki who might disagree with you. I just posted this answer to the Hitler question a few minutes ago, so I will share my view again:
Hitler was a horrible leader and a maniac. Good leaders don't allow their country's citizenry to be decimated for their own costly mistakes. At the end, he was sending 8 and 9 year old boys to their deaths to avoid surrender. A good leader always puts the good of those he or she leads ahead of their own. Hitler felt that since the war was lost, every last German should die with him. He was a manic depressive, amphetamine-addicted, hyper-paranoid lunatic.
What he was, was an extremely gifted orator, who did much to build up the German people's sense of pride after the humiliation and economic struggles caused by the Versailles Treaty (which ended WWI) had left them feeling humbled and despondent.
Many Germans at the time also shared his view that the nation's Jewish population was to blame for much her woes. Those who didn't share his anti-semitism were often willing to look the other way if they believed Hitler could restore their beloved Fatherland to its rightful place of prominence on the international stage.
Once the good people of Germany realized just HOW bad he really was, it was too late. With the kind of power the Gestapo and SS had, to speak out against Hitler was suicide.
A disturbing and tragic episode in human history, to be sure...and one I hope we will never forget. For those who do not learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat it.

The victory of the war was a collaborative effort of nations. When you have multiple parties acting in unison you can't have a single defined victor, it is a collaborative win. To answer your second part the Nazi party hated Jews and wanted to exterminate them. Certain high ranking members of the government did receive punishment at the Nuremberg Tribunals, most were executed, although some managed to escape, notably Dr. Mengala. There is no point of any war.

The Allies won.
A single nation doesn't have to win a war, sometimes groups can.
It was the post-war that really was up for grabs.
The point of WWII was for the Axis to conquer anyone they wanted or for the Allies to stop the Axis.
People followed Hitler because he was a charismatic leader that promised what people wanted.

WW2.
I could write an essay on your very pertinent questions, but I’ll try and keep it simple.
Who won the War ? The Allies in a very coordinated effort, just how coordinated it was can only be understood by professionals in mass production, logistics, strategy and tactical use of resources (human and material). The highlights, which we term as “turning points” of WW2 are in my opinion (10 Military Historians will have 20 opinions, so be wary of those professing “the truth”):
German Mistakes: 1. Dunkirk – they shouldn’t have stopped the tanks; 2. Goering stopped bombing RAF Airports a month too soon; 3. Italy’s entry (great bonus for the Allies – brought victories in N. Africa, extended the Gerrman front – Rommel/Afrika Korp – Balkans, Greece); 4. Delayed attack on USSR (two months due to Italy); 5. Hitler’s “brilliant” Generalship – refusal to insist on the Moscow front and later to effect tactical retreats – sacking good generals; 5. Hitlers stupid/bloody/inhuman insistence on destroying Jews/Commies/Others in very costly Lagers which needed lots of troops. 6. Ineffectual German attempts on Hitler’s life (over 20 before July 1944 – the big one);
Allied Effort: i) RAF bravery and skill in winning the Battle of Britain (we Brits are justly proud, especially me an ex RAF/ATC flier); ii) US mass delivery of over 50% of Soviet war material in a brilliant logistics drive; iii) Soviet transfer of vital industry east of the Urals; iv) Soviet stubborn resistance and bravery, with Stalin’s absolute disregard for human life iv) the Soviet T 34 tank, best ever for it’s time v) US production drive – supplied all the allies throughout the war, even before 1941 (Lend-Lease to the UK); vi) Royal Navy superiority that even beat the U boats (also tks to the cracking of the German Enigma code).
I didn’t mention anything about the Japs – sorry, another War, could even have been fought separately and been won by the US.
Why did the Germans allow Hitler to power ? Ask my East Prussian branch of the family; we lost everything. The German opposition to Hitler was elitarian, mostly Prussian officers and intellectuals (a second cousin of mine), the “mass” were too darned obedient or plain scared. Why did the European nations allow it ? Another pertinent question. Too democratic, too optimistic, who would have rated him the “beast” he turned out to be. You are dead right about German losses: nearly all in 1945, with the majority East Germans fleeing the Soviet army. German victims ? The 6 Mil. Jews ? In Italy my Mam hid 4 families for 18 months and saved their lives; why didn’t more do the same ? Germans are still asking themselves how such mass murder could ever have happened in Goethe’s, Schiller’s, Freud’s and Beethoven’s (to mention a few) country. It is still a mystery and no argumentation will ever explain it away.
Sorry for the length of my reply, but WW2 hit my “international” family deeply, together with Millions of other Europeans.
Why was it fought ? Read Mein Kampf (English translation), a raving programme published long before the War, where Hitler announced all his intentions. To all accounts if Hitler had stopped after taking the Czech Sudetenland (German speaking), then Europe would have been a mess, such a huge country, ruled by a mad dictator would have conditioned everybody and the Germans would have never freed themselves of him. Europe speaking German ? Doubt it, the last common language was Latin and it took the Romans to impose it - a really great people and top soldiers (lost in the end so you see no Top Dogs last forever).
