Venus flytraps do not need to "eat". They can be perfectly healthy just photosynthesizing the sun's rays and water and CO2 into energy. If you want to feed them, they naturally eat bugs but you can give them any meat. I used to have one and I gave it little pieces of hot dog... like cut them into a little slice and then cut it again into quarters

from AccessScience, an online reference encyclopedia found in many libraries:
Venus' flytrap
"Dionaea muscipula, an insectivorous plant of North and South Carolina (see illus.). The two halves of a leaf blade can move as if they were hinged along the midrib and, swinging upward and inward, the two surfaces come together. Any insect alighting on a leaf triggers this sensitive motor mechanism, and is caught between the closing halves of the leaf blade. In this trap, the insect is slowly digested by enzymes secreted by cells in the leaf."
A centipede would have to get onto a leaf to be eaten.

Yes they do.
But you have to make sure that you don't over feed your venus fly trap.
If the centipede is small, no problem.
If it is big... you should wait a couple of days before feeding it anything else.

they will try to catch and trap anything which gets close enough to it's sensors. They are meant to eat bugs so that's what I'd suggest you give it. I don't know if hamburgers will do it any good. That's like trying to feed broccolli to a lion. It's just not natural. Don't put things near it just to see because if it tries to catch something and you take it away, it could cause your plant to become "ill"

Well, hence the name, they eat flies by catching them and releasing acid to digest them. But they are plants, so they also need water and sun. As for centipedes, im not quite sure but I dont think so.

they will eat anything that is small enough to get inside and tickle its mouth then it closes and it will digest the insect and reopen with just the dust of the insect inside...brush or blow out the dust for him....dont touch him or put insects in his mouth....you can of course wound a inscet and drop it in..sometimes it will eat it...but it will close for a day or so to digest it so dont freak if hes not opened right afterwards....cut off any blackened heads or leaves

this is thwe best way to feed them.... ive tried it its soo awesome. ok what you do is find one with a really big trap thats open and got lotrs of hairs in it and stick your finger in it and jiggle it a lil' to make it close on your finger then take it out after a few seconds. and it will make your finger numb for a few minutes to an hour. its soo cool they use it too kill the flys and what not gets caught in it.
