My friend's mum is due next week and decided on the baby's name, it will be called Vanilla Australia Maraine. I personally hate it but what do you think?

She chose from the names in this link http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=At1pOUdyx9CY94PqqrScItwgBgx.;_ylv=3?qid=20071220134839AAZOuj8

To make it even worse the surname is Hilbourogh (Vanilla Australia Maraine Hilbourogh) (pronounced Hill-bour-oh-g)

Trust me they are posh. The mother is in her 40's, not young at all!!

My friend's mother is strict so I wouldn't dare tell her my opinion on the name. My friend tried to tell her she prefers names like Taylor, Katielynn etc. and her mother got really annoyed saying that when she has a child she can call it that etc.

No they aren't eccentric at all, they came from England and are a posh English stereotypical family!

They have 3 kids already Summer Rose who's my friend, India Skye (a girl) and Neyar Junell (a boy born on New years day and the granny is June).

Seriously Dont Like It
But I Think The 3 Other Childrens Name Are Really Sweet And Unusual
Mariane Would Be Okay, But Vanilla? Its A Flavour Of Icecream, Not A Childs Name.
It Cant Be Shortened Really, And You Know How Cruel Other Children Are Gona Be Because Of It.
I Agree With You, Its Awful!

Appalling! Even worse than what she's landed the others with (esp that poor boy). Either she's out of her head on something or she's lost her marbles totally.

Oh, and trust me, these are NOT the sort of names posh English people choose, stereotypical or otherwise. These scream from the extreme end of "Chav".

I don't like things like Taylor and Katielynn either, but they'd be an improvement of sorts.

what's wrong with a nice name like Caitlin Joy?
Tamsin Fay?
Natalie Ruth?

They are cruel to saddle their child with such a name. Just Maraine is okay, but the Vanilla Australia bit ... ask the woman what she thinks of Fifi Trixibelle as a name, and if she asks why, smile and say it's just out of curiosity.

Posh my ****. Only pretending, honey, only pretending.

By the way, I'm really old, I'm going to be 40 next year!

That is awful.

I, personally who pick on that child if I went to school with it.

Unusal names can work though. My friend just gave his son the middle name Danger. But at least little Noah Jones can go through life without using his silly name if he doesn't want to . Poor Vanilla.

Vanilla? Tell her to think of Jessica Lynn or Alicia Marie. Or Kayden or Hayden Marie. Tell her to think of something besides Vanilla!
