I cried and cried when my husband and I broke up after almost 13 years but then instead of a divorce we filed for a Legal Separation and we stayed like that for 2 years. During the 2 years we ended up being great friends and we remain great friends, still today.

I continue living my life, and ignore that it still is in my subconscious somewhere...
In the meantime I try new things, change the way I think and act in hopes of forgetting. Holding on to a silly romantic dream does not make me or break me as long as I do not get paranoid about it... (Which happened before and was scary too).

You know deep down what helps you. It takes a lot to get me there but I tend to cut off whatever it is that upset me.
You could try a new hobby that help take your mind off the situation, read, go outside~anything that you think you can do.

All the best.

I am not sure how to help with this one. Each person has their own way of dealing with things.
For me, it was a lot of crying and finally accepting the facts and forcing myself to move on. That is me. It may be something different for you. In time, you will find a way to deal with it. I wish you well.

I just don't, and I feel myself being tortured by things that wouldn't have bothered me if I had just learned to live and forget.

Don't be like me. Try your best to let go.

I immerse myself in misery, but I wear it like a cloak and keep it to myself.
After a while, I learn from it.
Every disappointment, pain and loss will eventually make you a stronger person.

If it affects you badly, remind yourself that it shall be better in the future. If it was good for you and you can't have it back, take it as a life lesson.
