Years ago I was browsing through a free email site to send an e-card to a friend and I clicked on a sentiment there, for inside the card...well I could not believe what I saw.

There was a poem there that I had written over 30 years ago. The only other person that was even aware of it was an x-boyfriend, because he used to play guitar and he actually put it to music.

I wrote the website asking for who submitted that. They said they didn't know and they would remove it if I wanted. I said no, they could leave it, but I just wanted to know who submitted it. They didn't keep track of that.

Somehow I doubt my old boyfriend would be submitting poems to websites. All my other friends are still friends--they would have told me if they did (and I did ask them all too! LOL)

It's really bizarre and every now and again I think of that and wonder if it's possible for another person to have written the same identical thing. ODD....

Well thanks for the kind words ladies, it's one of those things that will remain a mystery. As for talent, well I always say I'm a "jack of all trades and master of none!" LOL

It's amazing to think that someone could be doing the same exact thing as you are, even at the same exact time, but I do believe that it happens. There's too many people in the world for coincedinces, like that not to happen, at least once in a while.....lol...(was it one of yer dirty little lymericks)?...LMAO!

I bet that was a pleasant (yet bizarre) surprise. That's kinda how I got entered into a poetry contest myself like 20 years ago in middle school. We had a writing assignment for English class, turned it in as normal and a few months later my parents are notified that my poem was entered into the district competition and were invited to a dinner. I kind of assumed it was my teacher, but later found that she had showed it to our Reading teacher and it was her idea. That was sweet.

I think somebody felt the same about your work, really doubt it somebody would write the exact same thing. They probably heard it when he put it into music or maybe he did...you never know. Have you tried asking him?

I guess it depends on how intricate it was. I do think it'd be completely against the odds for someone to think of the exact same words (word for word) that you did & assemble them all in the same way you did. Maybe you had a copy of it that some unknown person found & it touched them so much that they wanted to share it with the rest of the world. Either way, if it was good enough to be published, brava to you! Maybe you've found your real calling. Good luck to you!
