Personally, my rate has decreased exponentially since the 60% point. Going from 60-85% took longer than the first 60% and I've only read 2 pages today!!!

How do you get that initial momentum back??? I've got 8 more books to go!!!

I'll agree with Bad Santa and say that it is usually ADD kicking in to full effect on the last 15%. When I read the "Dark Towers" series, 7 books with about 500 pages per book, I started skipping paragraphs in the last two books hoping to hurry up to get to the end.

I'll give ya'll both an "amen" on the gap commercial. SHUT DA FVK UP!!!!

this answer is going to come straight out of left field.

there is a little known law called the Law of Seven or (inconsistently) the Law of Octaves. It states that any activity that goes from the beginning to the end- for example, washing dishes by hand, mowing a lawn,- there will be seven distinct steps and a repeat of the first step and that there will be two points in that octave where the energy SLOWS DOWN. This is a universal, cosmic law that permeates EVERYTHING and I've verified it many, many times since I first learned of it over 30 years ago. These steps were given names thousands of years ago and the law itself is expressed in THE MUSICAL OCTAVE- Do, re, mi, etc. At the mi-fa interval, there is a missing semi-tone. There is also one at the very end, at the si-do interval (si is often called ti, erroneously). The first interval tends to bridge itself but the second is much more difficult to bridge. But if you KNOW about it- and now you do, cause I just told you- you can know why it's happening and bridge that interval by your OWN WILL POWER. Once you know it's there, that's half the solution.

Take it as if it is a mandatory task. You have to eat, brush your teeth, make your bed and whatever else it is that you have no way out of. Same with reading your books. You have to do it and the sooner the better. The more time you spend on the Internet the further you are from finishing your reading assignment. Use your will power.
