bush even said Osama is no longer a priority and that he doesn't think much about him.

Al Queada is still around and behaving badly. The US military is over extended and not in the US to protect it should anything happen there.
Not to mention Terror attacks in America were hardly a common occurrence before 9/11 so to say that the Iraq occupation has made America safer is nothing short of blatant propaganda used to sell the war.
Fact is the rest of the world has had to deal with it much longer than America has.
it finally came to America and expectedly too due to their brutal foreign policy. Propping up dictatorial regimes and the like.
So tell me how America is safer.

The war in Iraq is serving as a powerful recruiting tool for al Qaeda, providing the group with access to new resources, operatives and supporters. “We assess that al-Qa’ida will probably seek to leverage the contacts and capabilities of al-Qa’ida in Iraq (AQI), its most visible and capable affiliate and the only one known to have expressed a desire to attack the Homeland. In addition, we assess that its association with AQI helps al-Qa’ida to energize the broader Sunni extremist community, raise resources, and to recruit and indoctrinate operatives, including for Homeland attack.”

To the great detriment of U.S. security, the Bush Administration has failed to grasp the nature of al Qaeda’s continued and resurgent threat and has proven incapable of advancing a viable strategy to respond to it. This NIE is the latest evidence that the Administration is losing ground in the war on terrorism, and that its flawed strategy in Iraq is empowering al Qaeda and making us less safe at home. Recent statements from the President show that the White House continues to be out of step with the intelligence community. It is time that the Bush Administration stop spinning the intelligence, level with the American people, and rethink its national security strategy.
The Bush Administration has failed to bring those responsible for 9/11 to justice:The Bush Administration has failed to capture or kill the key architects of the 9/11 attacks
The Bush Administration has failed to stop major increases in global terrorist attacks:The increases have been particularly dramatic in Iraq and Afghanistan where terrorist incidents rose 91 percent and 52 percent respectively, over the past year. (State Department Country Reports on Terrorism, 4/30/07
The Bush Administration has failed to win the battle of ideas that would “drain the swamp” of extremism. Bush policies have created a whole new generation of extremists aiming to kill Americans rather than “draining the swamp” of extremism, and have allowed the creation of new safe havens for terrorists. From its misguided strategy in Iraq to its inadequate commitment to stabilizing and rebuilding Afghanistan and inattention to other critical issues in the Arab and Muslim world, the Bush Administration’s policies have had a destabilizing and radicalizing effect. the Bush Administration’s strategy in Iraq is actually helping to empower al Qaeda and leaving us less safe at home.

There is little merit to the Democrat argument that the US is not as safe due to current American foreign policy. There is also little merit in the Republican argument that the US would be safer if the Democrats were not soft on terrorism. I doubt that there will be another attack in the US of the magnitude of 9/11 in the next 4 years. This is not to say that it's impossible. Due to weapons technology, we've reached an age where a small group of determined people can cause harm to millions. The frightening truth is that if these people do decide to act, it won't make much of a difference who's in the White House. By in large, our safety is an illusion.

America is NOT safer. We are in worse shape than we were on Sept 11....

Thanks to Bush, thousands of disaffected people from around the world have joined the terrorist clans like al-Qaida... The illegal invasion of Iraq and the destruction of that country has made the U.S. and her citizens the biggest targets in the world.

Bush and Co's policies and hate-mongering have turned our allies against us also. Bush has managed to turn us against each other. He is a madman who has done more damage to our country than any terrorist ever could - and who is directly responsible for a million dead innocent Iraqi's and 4000 American soldiers....more than all of the terrorists put together have done in modern times.

Bush's priority was always control of the Iraqi oilfields....that's the only reason he ordered the invasion. Unfortunately, his greed - and the greed of his equally oil-hungry friends, has turned the middle-East into a sewer full of people who hate our country.

Hopefully, Congress can keep his finger off the buttons until he finally crawls back under his rock in Texas.

Before 9/11 we FELT safe. Our safety was an illusion. In fact they used that feeling of safety against us. they caught us by surprise. Now we are more aware of the threats to our nation and we haven't been successfully attacked since 9/11.

I'm always fascinated with the recurring argument that the lack of terrorist attacks on American soil since 9/11 is due to Bush's war on terror. I see absolutely no connection between the two. My theory? G.W. has been so successful at spreading terror that other terrorists are stunned, awed and see no need to add to it.

We're not.

Thanks to the patriot act and similar legislation, we are, however, more able to be spied upon by our own (cough) "government" than ever before.

If the Founding Fathers were here they would either be saying how it has happened again, we are allowing a strong central government and taxation without representation, the erosion of our rights and the perversion of the constitution...

Or they would just be having heart attacks seeing what was going on.

nothing has changed, only the fact that the west has finally experienced what their policies have done to the developing world. after the atrocities western foreign policy and their intelligence agencies committed, it had to come back to them in one way or another whether we like it or not haha...after arming saddam and the mujahideen, staunch support for israel, replacing democratically elected leaders with people like mobutu, pinochet, the shah of iran, and other "pro-western" dictators in power, the reagan administration...the list goes on...

We are not more secure. Even with all of the safe-guards like taking your shoes off at airports, we are not safer. In fact, quite the contrary. We have created hundreds of thousands of people who hate us enough to die to harm us. Many millions more hate us, but not enough to die to kill us. 9-11 will happen again and Bush has done everything he can to assure this.

Security is just an illusion. If one gives off the image of security, then it appears as if they are really taking action. But in reality, everything in the world is chaotic and potentially unsafe.

Well, for starters, we have more security at our airports, we have more security everywhere. Of course, we are extremely thankful that the war in Iraq, IS IN IRAQ, not in the US. That is HUGE. Our military forces have increased in the Middle East and pushed the terrorist organizations out of Iraq and Afghanistan. We have President Bush, his administration, and all of our hardworking soldiers to thank for that! Pakistan is where the Al Quaeda and Taliban are terrorizing now. I truly feel for those people. Having suicide bombers in their back yards are no FUN! And 9.11.01 proved we were not going to put up with that. The terrorists were stopped dead in their tracks.

That says so much, about how effective our presence in the area is! God bless America..our people and our leaders!

To: Red 100%: Yes, you get an "AMEN" to that!!! Right on! We are on the same sheet of music!
