So I moved into a duplex last month. Our duplex faces another set owned by the same lady. The people across from us and the people next to us are all college students. We all get along just fine, and we all have speculations about the neighbor kitty corner to me.
She is around her mid 40's maybe. She doesn't work. She has a steady supply of odd people come to her house and stay for 10-15 minutes then leave, and based on the physical condition of the people we think she sells meth or coke. She come over at random times and asks us to drive her 60 miles to one of the bigger cities in my state. We never do. The people who come over are usually intoxicated or look wired and have a tendency to block the bottom of the drive way we all share.
On the flip side she has two small children. It could be that she is just weird and the rest of us are too creative. I don't want to call the police if this isn't true. Especially if it could involve her children being brought into it. Any ideas?

Seems here the secondary issue is of some importance, are the two small children being properly cared for. Your question did not provide a lot of information on this important aspect. No matter how you cut it , this does not seem a positive environment for two small children. This is a scenario where it would be better to err on the side of safety and make a call to the children's authorities, although am betting they have already had several given what seems very obvious (odd) behaviors. There does not seem to be attempts to be very discreet on her part. I can understand your concern not to bring the children into this, but in reality they are the major concern here. Personally would allow the children's authorities to do what they do and put your mind on ease (regrettably does not mean they will do anything, but you can sleep at night). If so they (childrens aid) should contact the Police department themselves.

Based on these two things - 1." She comes over at random times and asks us to drive her 60 miles to one of the bigger cities in my state." 2. - "She has a steady supply of odd people come to her house and stay for 10-15 minutes then leave" . I would def say she's dealing....just trust me on this :)

Believe I would be compelled to check with the police department to see if there have been any complaints against the person. Had a similar situation next door to me . . . and they were dealing out of the house. I didn't know it but the police had been keeping a watch on them for quite some time and then one night the big ruckus next door turned out to be a drug bust. So much for them!

The thing about this situation is that kids are involved IF she's doing something she shouldn't be doing, HOWEVER, if she isn't really bothering you then you should just leave her to be until somehow you get involved unwantingly. Maybe this is her only way to survive but if you do see things going on there that shouldnt be going on, only then should you say something.

If I were you I would ask the landlord if she knows anything.Otherwise if they don't really bother you I wouldn't say anything;it's better not to start things with your neighbors if you know what I mean.

I would mind my own business if I were you...some of those "weird" people may retaliate...you never know....you wouldn't want to get hurt by them.
