CNN Headline News critics were saying that people should seperate her role as Zoey from her real life and that it should be okay for kids to watch Zoey 101, even Whoopi said that on the view that she is just human and that we ALL make mistakes. That seems to me that would send mixed signals to kids that consider Jamie Lynn their role model. Just wondered what other people thought.

Teenagers get pregnant all the time. I would rather my kids see the results of irresponsible behavior than I would some false squeaky-clean image. It's unrealistic role models in the first place who make kids think no bad consequences will befall them.

She's a teen. She's pregnant. It's reality. Kids don't need to be sheltered from reality.

Oh, and since teen pregnancies are on the rise it's a good indication of how well the abstinence-only sex education is going. Pregnant teens--our tax dollars at work.

Abstinence-only is a fantasy. Sex before marriage is a fantasy. Kids always have and always will have sex before marriage. This is a fact.

I don't remember nearly as much of a fuss being made when the younger sister of singer Beyonce Knowles became pregnant and gave birth at the age of 17. Why is that? I know she didn't have a TV series but even Jamie Lynn Spears isn't well-known to those who don't watch that show. As for Whoopi Goldberg, she probably has a more tolerant attitude because her own daughter became a mother at the age of 15. Whoopi has said that her daughter is a much better mother than she ever was so maybe that has something to do with with her attitude also.

Edit: In response to an earlier poster who mentioned Hollywood stars having to sign morality clauses, let me mention that the studios often looked the other way or tried to cover up when their entertainers got into trouble. That is, only as long as the actors were still popular with the public and making money for them. If they weren't, they were quickly dropped. Did you know that some of the larger studios had on-site abortion clinics? That was preferable to having the actress becoming an unwed mother. In those days, being an unwed mother was considered to be much worse than getting an abortion. Practically every major female star had had an abortion at one time or another during her career.

Well Whoopi's daughter had her first child at a very young age, if I remember properly, so I don't think Whoopi is going to come out and say it's wrong.

And cynic that I have become I think Barbara Walters is probably in line for the interview with Jamie Lynn and her mum or her boyfriend, so she's not going to say it's wrong.

In this day and age, with many types of birth control available, unless the pill failed and that does happen now and then, I think she either is supremely stupid to get pregnant or she did it deliberately.

I actually think it should be like the old days in Hollywood, where child actors and teenage actors and adult actors should have to sign moral clauses in their contracts for movies, tv , appearances etc. Perhaps that would stop alot of the hooching around that young hollywood does.

No,nobody made them role models and why should they have to live up to someone's standards, except that that's part of being a human . You get famous people look up to you whether it's warrented or not. That's part of the fame game baby and if you don't want to live by the rules, those inferred and those that are real then don't aspire to be famous.

well i think getting pregnant at 16 is stupid,my mother did it and my sister did it, they"thought" they were in love so they "let themselves" have sex without protection, just like jaime lynn, For those of you who are quick to bash back at the people who criticize her like me ,we do it because (A. )our parents did it also and it was a hard struggle( B.) we are selves did it and also know first hand the 24/7 struggles and responsibilities (c.) we have a family member who recently or in the past has done it and seen them struggle.
Anyways i am a father of a boy 5 and a girl 3 and as a father and many parents out there we see the how succesfull she is and weve seen britney go nuts with her kids and we think is she stupid or what? I do not support teen pregnancy, but that future child will have more than enough financial support(unlike many of us "normal" people have) from her mother. Lets just hope she doesnt turn out like grandma spears or auntie spears.

I think parents need to become role models in their children's lives, and stop letting the fantasy world of Zoey, and Hannah Montana guide our children. We need to remember that television is for entertainment purposes only.

I mean, look at the Cheetah Girl who hid her pregnancy, and still does not admit that she was pregnant, or had a baby because she is forced into being a role model.

no wonder all the criminals are blaming movies and video games for their crimes. whatever happened to television as entertainment. unless the show is a documentary it is not meant to be educational. and jamie lyn has already stated that she made a mistake, and that just because she was silly others should not do the same. to all the people who think she should be villified , stop and reflect on yourself at 16, then decide who can judge her.

Anybody who thinks that a 16 year-old pregnant girl "made a mistake" is an idiot, so that would explain why the media isn't covering it. Nobody should come down on the poor kid, but geez, calling it a "mistake" and using the idiotic cliche that "we're all human" is downright disgusting.
"We're all human" when we forget an appointment, burn diner, or lock the keys in the car. Mistakes are made on math tests, tax forms, and stuff like that. Getting naked and having unprotected sex doesn't fall into either category.
Like the thousands of other 16 year-old girls who'll get pregnant this month people should hope for the best for her and her baby, but nobody should excuse it.

NICK needs to fire her as she is no longer a good role model for kids.

for those who say she is not a role model. phooey. if the kids want to watch her, then she is a Role Model.

She needs to leave TV and not give kids the impression that #1 - Sex is OK at 16
#2 - Pregnant is OK at 16 or even before Marriage.
