He wakes up 20-30 min into his naps and at night an hour after he has laid down. I have tried letting him cry it out, it doesn't work.He goes to sleep nursing and if he falls asleep with me rocking he doesn't stay asleep for very long.He likes to be with me always. anyone have a similar experience? He's also waking up every 1-2 hours each night and the only thing that settles him is nursing. he has cereal at night but it doesn't seem to phase him. Help!

My son sleeps about a total of 10 hrs, too, but we just keep him active during the day so that at night he is exhausted and ready to go to bed. If my son wakes in the night, I always feed him if that's what he wants. I don't believe in letting them cry it out. Try to see if you can keep him going during the day and let him jump in his jumperoo or something tiring right before bedtime to get some extra energy out.

He's only doing it because its how he's learned to comfort himself. Crying it out does work, you just dont like it because after 30 minutes or an hour you give in and go get him.

Every baby goes through this.

If he's over tired he will wake up as soon as he falls asleep, and on the other end, if he's not on a regular schedule and sleeping too often he wont stay asleep either.

Keep his routine the same, if he wakes up after you've put him to sleep, too bad, let him cry until he falls asleep. It might take a few nights, but he WILL get over it.

Its either that, or get used to nursing him to sleep every single time he's awake.

Its a normal part of his development to change up his sleeping habits. Make sure he's not hungry or wet or teething and then let him learn how to put himself to sleep. You can go in and sit next to him and pat his back, or hum for him, but dont pick him up unless he's gagging, and only to calm him and put him back down again.

You cant make a baby sleep anymore then they are ready too..All babies are different and have different sleeping habits and patterns.. My first son was up every 3 hours at night.. My second son.. he would sleep all night ..and my 3rd son he slept all night too.. Try rocking him in a rocking chair to help calm and sooth him.. As they get older they will get into a more normal routine.. I use to walk mine.. and talk to them to help them get sleepy.. also another trick i use to use was to put them in the car in their car seat and drive until they fell asleep, ive also heard that the vibrations of a washing machine help them sleep too, dont know if this is true ive never tried it.. my sons when they were babies would fall asleep and sleep thru loud noises.. such as the vacuum cleaner or the tv turned up loud.. all babies are diff..
