One reason something would be done at that time is if the baby had died in-utero naturally and the doctors had to surgically remove it. But that wouldn't be an abortion like you and I would consider an abortion because the baby would have already died naturally (a still birth) -- but in the medical paperwork it would be called a "spontaneous abortion."
The only reasons I can think of to choose an abortion or to have no choice but an abortion at such a late stage is if the mother's life is in danger or the child has something severely wrong with it such as it's brain hadn't developed at all or if it's heart was malfunctioning or if it's lungs were all but nonexistent, any of which would cause it to not survive outside the womb. Or possibly if it was severely disabled in some other way. These types of abortions are not illegal because they are medical interventions.

ok did you post this question to beat up on people or are you really looking for an answer? Well here are a couple: 1) If a woman is raped 2) If the child severely deformed and will not have a good quality of life. These are the only reasons why I would imagine that any woman would abort a pregnancy. I am no one to judge the decisions of another person. One thing that we must keep in mind is that everyone has their individual rights. Yes even children but most of their rights are exercised by their parents until they are 18 years of age. I'm guessing that this also pertains to unborn children as well. I don't know very much about Law and each State has its own laws. Like I mentioned before, the decisions is ultimately up to the mother and let's not forget the father (if present). He has the right to oppose the abortion. Sorry that I couldn't give you all seven reasons, but I wanted to give my opinion anyway.

It is illegal in the United States to have an abortion after the second trimester. The answer to if it is right and wrong, it depends on a person's morals. I became pregnant with my daughter when I was 17. I don't even remember thinking about abortion or adoption. My mind was already made up that I would have her and keep her and love her. I do have a very close friend who's girlfriend had two abortions, the babies being his. He still gets upset to this day about those lost babies. And the abortions happened more than 5 years ago. All I can say is, 9 times out of 10, the persons involved with getting the abortion feel a great amount of loss and regret.

If the mother is really ill, or the doctors found out the baby formed without a brain or something. Doctors usually will not perform an abortion that far along in a pregnancy unless there is a big problem.
We have a doctor here in Wichita that does perform late term abortions. I don't know how often that occurs.

Someone can have an abortion at anytime they want to, until the baby can live outside without to umbilical cord, so no they can't have an abortion but they can have a c-section.. I don't like the idea of an abortion, and I am against it. But that's the law. And also maybe they are getting cold feet....but It's still wrong under every circumstance

Legally, in the USA you cannot get an abortion at 7 mos. A baby can live outside on its own at 7 mos.
So no is there no reason for someone to do an abortion at 7 months and hell no its not right.
The doctor will be committed premeditated murder!

I think you will find that late term abortions can be carried out under different state laws (example Kansa - see link) http://www.drtiller.com/ - for elective as well as fetal abnormality reasons. The requirement there is the agreement of 2 physicians who agree that a birth would be 'detrimental' to the mothers welfare, (this could include mental welfare...eg, "it will make me depressed etc")
Whatever the reason for termination at that stage, I imagine it would be extremely traumatic.

I don't think you can have an abortion that late in the pregnancy. It's between 3-5 mths.

well it is not right accroding to the law, unless you are up to 3 months in the pregnancy, but other than that it has to be a matter of life or death situation. who ever thinks of that at that stage is probably psychologically distressed.
