I don't know which but in one of the world wars on one Christmas Eve in one of the battles the Germans and the Scottish took a cease fire and walked right into the middle of non-mans-land to celebrate Christmas together even though they were both enemies at war. I just wanted to share that as it showed that even two enemies can hold off a fight at a time such as Christmas.

They even wrote a Christmas song about it:

Snoopy's Christmas (Snoopy vs. The Red Baron) - Performed by: The Royal Guardsmen (1967)

The news had come out in the First World War
The bloody Red Baron was flying once more
The Allied command ignored all of its men
And called on Snoopy to do it again.

Twas the night before Christmas, 40 below
When Snoopy went up in search of his foe
He spied the Red Baron, fiercely they fought
With ice on his wings Snoopy knew he was caught.

Christmas bells those Christmas bells
Ring out from the land
Asking peace of all the world
And good will to man

The Baron had Snoopy dead in his sights
He reached for the trigger to pull it up tight
Why he didn't shoot, well, we'll never know
Or was it the bells from the village below.

Christmas bells those Christmas bells
Ringing through the land
Bringing peace to all the world
And good will to man

The Baron made Snoopy fly to the Rhine
And forced him to land behind the enemy lines
Snoopy was certain that this was the end
When the Baron cried out, "Merry Christmas, my friend"

The Baron then offered a holiday toast
And Snoopy, our hero, saluted his host
And then with a roar they were both on their way
Each knowing they'd meet on some other day.

Christmas bells those Christmas bells
Ringing through the land
Bringing peace to all the world
And good will to man

Christmas bells those Christmas bells
Ringing through the land
Bringing peace to all the world
And good will to man

Apparently it happened in the trenches in both world wars, they swapped drink, cigarettes and there were several friendly games of football between the two sides as well. They had this guy on the news from WW2 last week saying about how they all showed each other their meagre posessions and letters from home, then the next day or so they were back to killing each other again. Must do your head in.

That`s a very well documented incident from Christmas day 1914,,the Germans who took part all died some weeks later in an attack,,the British who participated were sent on a suicide mission and the French were all court marshaled,,clearly the high command from all sides thought differently,,,there were no recorded survivors from WW1 who took part in this event,,

Yeah, I'm sure this was made into an animated programme, and it was in ww1. Wouldn't it be great if it always wus xmas, a time of peace and happiness for all. They also played football together, this was the Christmas Truce, and they actually played a competeitve match

I seem to remember this happening during WW I. Such a thing is possible when the war is between two relatively civalized countries. It is not possible when the war is between a civalized contry and a fanatical one such as we are now at war with.

It was W.W.1 . They played a game of soccer, but I thought it was England and Germany. The score was 1-1
