Perhaps.

And perhaps its called libel.

Libel is about lies in print.

Slander is about verbal lies.

Remember you'll have to prove economic harm.

I've been slandered or libeled on the Internet more times than I can count. So I know how you feel.

You can sue anyone for anything, but winning is a different story. Unless he said something that is demonstrably false and has caused you some sort of financial loss, I doubt if you will succeed. He may be able to claim that he posted his opinion of you, and he is entitled to his opinion. If he accused you of illegal activity or something like that, he might be held liable if you can prove that it is untrue and prove thet he KNEW it was untrue.

That was very immature of him. Don't drag this out any longer than necessary. Don't check his myspace page - sounds like he knows you will be looking. If you just ignore him, he'll eventually stop. This is a tough time for the both of you right now - don't add more stress to the situation.

You should just let it go. He's obviously trying to push your buttons, so don't give him the satisfaction. Ignore him and he'll stop, just like with a child. If you react to stupid stuff like this, he'll just keep doing it. Be the better person and ignore it. Lawsuits can take years and thousands of dollars. Is it really worth the bother? I doubt it.

You can only sue someone for slander if they have done monetary damage to you. Just because he is voicing his opinion of you I'm sorry to say you don't have the right to sue unless he is actually costing you something or depriving you of something you need.

Slander is only an issue if what is said can be proved untrue.

Well if he didn't care, he wouldn't have done it. He is still pasionate about you, just in a more negative way. I say ignore it, and this type of behavior will fade out. He will eventually direct his attention elsewhere.

Actually you can sue him for Libal. Or defamation of character. As long as it can be proven that it was you he did these things to then you have him by the kahones.

I think so... I have heard of a similar case, where a teen was bad mouthing another teen, and was sued, and the party that sued, won...

a teen ended up killing herself after what she read on my space... =(...

so, her parents sued the other teen making fun of her, and they sued her parents...

good luck! sue!
