If we can not get the House of Representatives to start an impeachment process, it usually never gets to the U S Senate for trial. Blame it on Pelosi as to why GWB was not impeached. Now, looks like a lot of Dems are going to lose their seats in the coming 2008 and 2010 elections. Right? We get a Dem for President, but nothing else.

While we are at it, lets get rid of Pelosi and that chick from Texas with the braids all over her brain in the House, as well as any incumbent in either party, like Dems and Reps. - Then we can eliminate all the candidates who did not prevail for the President on the Dem side, and to go to the U S Senate and finally rid ourselves of Boxer, Kucinich, and a host of incumbents there too. And by all means vote out Byrd and Paul or anyone who is over 65, they all need to retire.

Any elected official can be impeached, which both removes them from office and bars them from ever holding another public office. This requires them to have committed a high crime or misdemeanor, which is vague enough to be abused.

In US history, two presidents have been impeached, Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton, but neither was convicted of it. Nixon would have been impeached and possibly convicted, but he resigned instead.

Precedent says you can impeach them over lying about something that is not illegal, or breaking a law designed to get them impeached. So if Congress wants to, they could remove any president they want.

Ideally they would have to commit a crime first, such as breaking the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

We can impeach or censure, but his people have been so good at hiding or destroying evidence, it makes it difficult at best.

Once you elect them, you have no say in anything. That's what a republic is.
