My dads radio station is a 'gospel' one, and it has some usually cheesey sounding stuff.
Its our churchs radio station so my dad is helpless.

I was thinking of something that sounded like nickel creek, but it has to be Christian and have Christian lyrics.

Any suggestions?
It also can't be rocky, or anything too much.
Its mainly just a bunch of old people that listen, but my dads been playing better stuff lately so we have younger people now, but he needs more songs that aren't too bluegrass, that sounds good for anyone, but isn't too stupid.

hahaha...its true...
But there are some that are really good, but sometimes they try to get too trendy with their music or sound too rocky and be all cool.
lol...

Non-cheesy Christian musicians? Good luck. I've never found one in any genre.

Micheal Card and Ray Boltz come screaming to my mind to answer your question. Both singers sing songs that are deep and expressive. I don't know how old you are nor your parents but I am 31 years old and I love Micheal Card's music and my 10 year old does also. Now to give you an even bigger idea my mom who is in her 60's loves Micheal Card's music. Both singers main stream christian raido would know about but you might have a hard time finding albums by them, however they are chart toppers in my book.
Now a group whos music is newer but I think is great for both young and old is Mercy Me. They sing the song "I Can Only Imagine". There style is good for the conservite music crowd cause it doesn't sound like rock, but its good for the younger people cause it isn't as you say cheesey.
Also there is a song I know by Matt Redmen that has the lyerics "Oh no you never let go/
through the calm and through the storm
oh no you never let go
Lord you never let go of me..."
"There will be an end to the trouble
but until that day comes
oh no you never let go
through the calm and through the storm..."

This song isn't cheesy.

josh grosdin, charlotte church, jackie valezquez ( not sure of the spelling) amy grant was christian back in the day, A lot of your current country artists have done some sort of Christian music rather it be Christmas music or other.
Dolly Parton, Vince Gill, Josh Turner, Randy Travis, Alan Jackson, Ricky Skaggs, check them out. There's some lady with the first name Crystal but, can't think of her last name. my friend is very familiar with Christian music. I'll get with her and come back and edit later. This is the best I have at the moment. I'll send revised version later when i get some more info for you. take care

As I Lay Dying. That's the heaviest Christian band I've heard, and probably one of the better ones. Yes, they are Christian. Or so I've been told. You might also want to check out Tourniquet. Try Skillet as well. I haven't personally checked them out, but a classmate of mine seems to like them a lot. Edit: Oh, I'm sorry, I thought your question said you WERE into the hard rock sound. Never mind then, all the above bands are hard rock/metal. Sorry, I can't help you.

There is a group that I like to listen called The Crabb family, they sound country and are very good. Someone did some praying for me, Is my favorite. Also another good christian singer I would recomend is Cliffton Janksy. You would have to go to his web sight in order to purchase his stuff but I do not think you would be dispointed. Good luck.

Jimmy Payne, Ricky Skaggs and even the old outlaw Tompall Glaser are recording some wonderful Christian music these days.

They all have websites so why not check them out.

I recently bought "When Mama Prayed" by Jimmy Payne and I love it.

Amy Grant has recorded a lot of good Christian music. Get his Alan Jackson's CD called "Precious Memories." It's country and really good music. I think your dad would like it.
