log(base 4) of [12^(x-4)]
= (x-4) log(base 4) of (12)
= (x-4) log(base 4) of (4*3)
= (x-4) log(base 4) of 4 + (x-4) log(base 4) of 3
= (x-4)(1) + x log(base 4) of 3 - 4log(base 4) of 3.
= x - 4 + x log(base 4) of (3) - 4log(base 4) of (3).

let log[4] (12)^(x-4)

12 can be written as 4^(1.792)

so log[4] (12)^(x-4) = log[4] (4^1.792)^(x-4)

=>log[4](4)^(1.792x - 7.168)

=>(1.792x - 7.168)log[4](4) (since log(a)^b = b loga)

=>(1.792x - 7.168)

( since log of any number to the base of same number is 1)
