my nephew is a year and still in size 4 and my son is 9 months and in size 3. however, comparing the weight of your baby it seems like you are buying a size bigger. but if it fits better it is not a problem.
my nephew grew so fast he was 4 months in 12 month clothing, however he stayed the same size in clothes for about 5-6 months. i guess he just had a growth spurt then stopped.
as long as the baby is healthy weight isnt an issue. all babies are different.
to adeline... wow that was a huge baby, i bet it was so cute =) i once saw a 5 month old that was 25lbs and he was a cutie.

I had a similar experience with my son. I stocked up on diapers before he was born and he grew out of size 1 in less then a month! I had 2 cases untouched. He was in size 6 diapers at 4 months because he had such huge and chunky butt and thighs. :o) So you're definitely not alone.
My son, who was exclusively breastfed, grew and gained weight at an astronomical rate. He was born at 8 lbs. 5 oz. and doubled his weight by his first month checkup. He weighed, and I'm NOT lying here, 38 lbs at 10 months old! He was so chunky and long and he couldn't wear normal baby pants... he still can only wear stretchy pants.... and wears a 4T at 22 months old now. He's thinned up a lot, but he's still a husky and big boy. The thing is he barely eats, eats only healthy food and still breastfeeds. His dad is 6'4" and I had a Grandpa who was 6'7"... so I guess he'll just be a big guy.
Everyone was freaking me out saying that he had giantism and stuff because "no baby grows THAT fast or gets THAT big THAT soon". I was terrified. But the doctor said he was perfectly healthy just HUGE. :o) He was WAY off the growth charts in BOTH weight and length.
Remember, every baby is different.

my 17month old just started wearing size 4 diapers this month. He weighs 23 lbs but he has no *** whatsoever. My best friends daughter who has a "ghetto booty" lol, started wearing size 4's very early too, not because she was especially heavy, just a different shape. She also uses diapers that don't have any stretch, whereas i always get the stretchy kind. If your using pampers baby dry that don't stretch that's probably why you have to go up a size. It's just a number, whatever diaper works for you is fine. Your baby sounds like she's got a little baby fat on her (which is adorable, my munchkin's always been thin, i miss that chubby baby cheeks phase) but she certainly doesn't seem unhealthy. Don't let anyone tell you whats weird or normal for your baby, you know her and you know what works and it sounds like your doing a great job

My baby is off the charts length wise and 98th in her weight...she is almost 18lbs and is in 3-6 month clothes (sometimes 6-9) depending on the brand. She is so long that sometimes even the 3-6 month onesies have trouble snapping in the crotch.
That being said, we are in pampers size 2 (may go to 3 soon, but 2's are fine right now) I can't imagine her in 4's?
Every baby has their own way of growing ;-) What is her length?

Size 4??
My Son is 2 months old and is still in size one, although he is 12 lbs already, and VERY long. He's not "meaty", he's just "tall" for a baby.
Are you sure it's size 4?? If your's is 18 lbs, that's seems a bit small for size 4. My Cousin's baby is a year on the 28th of this month, and is just now in a size 4.
Good luck, don't freak. Wt. wise, your lil' one sounds fine.
Just check with the Doc in a couple 'o weeks.

I have a 5 month old that seems above average in weight, and I had to put her into size 4 or 5 (depending on brand) to keep her from leaking out of the sides on her leg and the back of her diaper. She is very chunky and the diapers for her weight don't keep everything in. I feel ya-but I'm hoping she will grow into her size for health reasons.

You're buying the wrong size!! My baby is 6 months, 20 lbs, and wears Pampers brand (size 3). Length has nothing to do with the size of the diaper. You're wasting money buying the larger size (you get less diapers).
My baby girl is also "meaty" and weighed 8lbs 3oz at birth and hasn't stopped yet!!

My daughter is almost 4 months, she is 20lbs, wears pampers, size 2. (She has the thighs, belly, and cheeks as well, but NO butt!!) My daughter is off the charts height and weight wise, but her pediatrician says its no cause for concern. She is just a big baby. Your baby is the same! Wait until she starts moving around and crawling, she will be less intersted in eating all the time and can burn off some of that milk!!
You have a precious big bundle of joy like me! Enjoy!!

TOTALLY FINE!
Not to worry. I like to call that "healthy". Both of my daughters were just like that. The fatest thighs in the world. (the 4 year old is the right size!) My kids have always worn the next size up clothes! Don't worry she is fine! We moved outs to size 4 diapers by 4 months. It holds the poo and pee better!
As my mom says it is the only time in life that you can run around naked with cellulite and fat thighs and people think it is cute!

OMG don't worry!!!! We were SOOO worried about our little tubby butt baby girl who was the same size as yours. People used to be so rude telling me how "healthy" she was but she is now 9 months old and still wearing a size 4 diaper and she has thinned down A LOT she looks totally healthy now.
people used to make comments like.. omg what do you feed her etc. some people are SO RUDE. Now she is thinned down she is absolutely gorgeous and running around like crazy.
