we were thinking about re-locating back into this home that we own however the air conditioner and heating system does not work im pretty sure it needs a whole new system so i need to know an estimate on how much they usually cost? we have central air

Kind of hard to come up with a static answer without knowing how many square feet of home is involved, number of floors, etc. I had a new heating/central a/c installed for $1600 here in Ohio for a 3 floor home of 2000 square foot. Call different HVAC companies and ask. That is what I did. No charge for estimates ( I specified that over the phone). Good luck.

Please. Please, Please, make sure that whoever comes out to give you a proposal, they do a 'heat load' (to determine the RIGHT size equipment you need), they look at the duct work, windows, electrical supply, ect. If they just give you a price on a piece of paper saying 'this is what its gonna cost you' without looking at these things., you will be making a mistake. I have done heating and air for 15 years now. I am not too hesitant to say, I make a living off the salesman that throw something in there to get a check and run. If the process takes less than 45 min, dissmiss them and move on. I hope you take my advice. Good luck to you all, and Merry Christmas.
