Federal law is actually one-party consent. Some states, such as Florida, have adopted a stricter two-party consent rule. So no, in Florida you cannot record a conversation without the other party knowing.
The Federal law can be found by reading 18 U.S.C. Sec. 2511(2)(d).

It's illegal in ALL states. It's a federal law that if a phone conversation is being recorded...all parties have to be made aware of it.

My friend "the cop" says; if there's one person in the room that knows it's recorded, it's legal as evidence. Tapping a phone call or tapping from outside with a dish or something is illegal without a court order.

That is not legal in ANY STATE... that is a CLEAR VIOLATION of the 4th AMENDMENT and, possible... the 5th AMENDMENT and you can get a BIG fine and do some serious jail time for doing it.
