1. you pull them off by hand or scrape them off.
2. you turn off the magnet.
The problem is that with a permanent magnet you can't turn it off. You could use another stronger magnet to pull them off, but then how do you get the fillings off of that magnet? If it is an electromagnet then you simply cut the circuit.
What attracts the iron filings is the fact that they are iron and you can't turn that off so the only thing you can do is to change the magnet itself. Even if you got an equally matched magnet of an opposite polarity and put the two in parallel, the magnetic field would cancel out along a very thin line between the two; not at the surface of the magnet where the fillings will be.

Water might work. First remove iron with magnet. Stir in water until ingredients are covered about an inch or two above the surface. Stir gently a few times or until the sand sinks to the bottom, and the poppy seeds float to the top. Seperate the sand and poppy seeds by skimming the seeds up. drain the sand through a sifter. But as far as the salt. It will dissolve in water. If you are using rock salt, quickly get that ingredient out first, before the other ingredients and before it all dissolves. Then at last, boil remaining water until evaporates and collect remailing salt. Let me know how it turns out, OK?

Pick up the filings through a sheet of paper, and then the filings won't get on the magnet.

"Short circuit" the magnet with a piece of soft iron, or steel. The filings will drop or tap off.

or let them rust
or some other chemical reaction
(eg weak hydrochloric acid... or weak nitric acid all nitrates are soluble) [ conc acids will passivate ]
or let them burn in oxygen
