first off the president does not declare war, congress does. yes the president can go into war for 90 days till congress says otherwise.
there were nuclear weapons in iraq. we found them and got rid of them. so dont go saying that there weren't any. Bush went into iraq to get rid of the nuclear weapons and thats what he did, now we're there just to help set up a new democratic government.
5 years without seeing family is bull crap. a year maybe but 5 years is bull. the people in the military joined because they want to protect their country not because they had too. yeah, it gets pretty bad over there but they are doing this for what they think is right. if they didn't want to do this then why did they join? people we are winning, yes there maybe little battles going on but the troops are over there to keep things under control.

Because the Democrats have been saying that it was a failed policy for so long, they see us winning as a defeat for them. They can't stand the idea that we may actually be winning and they were WRONG.

My ex boyfriend was in Iraq and the things he told me that he saw and did were horrible and terrible and he got back to this country what did the government do to help him with his PTSD? Basically nothing. The war is a joke and it’s destroyed lives. This isn’t a war on terrorism…Iraq wasn’t responsible for 911, Osama Bin Laden was, and where is he at? Nothing good has come out of this war. War is an evil ugly thing (unless if it’s fought to stop something else just as evil like WW2, and this is certainly not the case in Iraq we clearly didin’t need to be there). People die. Civilians die. Women and children die. How can there ever be a “winner” when all of these things are happening?

Study his past, and you will find very bright crook or dummy that doesn't care if other steal as long as he gets piece of action.
If taking out Saddam was such a great idea, then why didn't his father do it many years earlier. The fighting won't stop till Iran takes that area over, so why wast peoples lives and very large sums of money on useless cause. If we are winning, which I strongly hope we are, then that means Iraq can take care of itself, and sell it's oil where it wants to and at price it wants.

#1- we're not winning the war. It cannot be won. All this country is winning is a one way ticket toward being in debt for decades to come. Bin Laden did a great job of baiting Bush to go to war, to blow billions of dollars and weaken our economy, and thick headed Bush bit. It's a shame

#2- we hate Bush because he's a complete moron. He's alienated our country from the rest of the world. He's an embarrassment when he opens his mouth to speak in public. He just throws our tax money away, while doing nothing to help out the average middle class family, which makes up the majority of the country. (it's probably the lower class by now)

Please define winning. If indeed we are winning than we don't need to be there at all. Lets start bringing them home while we clean up and by the time we have cleaned up by the end of next year we can have everyone home for Christmas 2008.

I can't speak for others but I don't hate Bush. I don't hate anyone. I very strongly disagree with Bush's policies and decisions but I don't hate him. He is a liar, incompetent, corrupt, arrogant, and greedy but I don't hate him.

I simply agree with Theodore Roosevelt who said: "To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." (1918)

Loath bush

we are winning in Iraq ? really ?
just because the surge is working dose Not mean Victory is at hand !!
besides the surge will soon come to an end, and then what ?

FYI - we might be in Iraq 10 years from now and still no closer to Victory.

people say the surge is working because it lowered the number of killings - but that's not winning is it ?
that just means less people are getting killed.

because "winning" does not make this war ethical, necessary, less disgusting, or not based directly in lies, greed, hatred, and fear. Because even if we are "winning", which we aren't because you can't "win" an occupation, it doesn't make bush a good president or a capable commander in chief of the military. It would not was clean any and or all of the the crimes against humanity he has committed.

To name a few: He was quick to start a war to stamp out weapons of mass destruction only to find out that none existed...

NAFTA, CAFTA and other bad trade deals, off shoring, outsourcing and other middle class debacles - he is not solely responsible for all of these but he has engaged in many bad trade deals all on his own.

The middle class has seen very little raise in wages while the cost of living steadily climbs yet every other plan or tax cut goes to the elite and Corporate America.

The list goes on but simply put, the republicans used to stand for the hardworking middle class taxpayers, George W Bush stands for big oil and big business. He is also responsible for a record number of Republicans changing their political designation to Independent (myself included).

I hate bush because he is a bad person

The troops should have never been there to begin with

How can you say we are "winning" what will victory look like? How will we know when it comes? You think the iraqis are just going to give up?

We are not winning, the war in Iraq is not a situation that gets won. It is not like WWII where you knew clearly who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. I think, speaking only for myself, that the reasons we are in Iraq are not benevolent, I think that the world was misled as for why we needed to be there in the first place (where oh were are the WMD'd?) I think and I am sorry to be harsh, we have a case of a lame duck president lining the pockets of his oil buddies and himself.
