A Good Dog-The Story of Orson, Who Changed My Life by Jon Katz

"Expecting Adam," Martha Beck, Ph.D. A warm, funny, and profound account of her last year at Harvard, bringing to birth her young baby Adam. Short and easy to read.

"The Great Divorce," C. S. Lewis, a novella fantasy about a man who goes to heaven on a tour bus, and what he learns.

"The Ranch of Rescued Dreams," Kim Meeder. Also warm and profound, about the love of children and horses and how it makes good differences.

"Winterdance" by Gary Paulsen... if you ever wanted to know more about the Iditarod, that 1180-mile sled-dog race in Alaska, this book is the one to read.
A true story of Paulsen training himself, his dogs, more dogs, and running the race-- it reaches magic, as such a race would have to, huh?
