I bought this car from a local dealer shop about 10 months ago..it went really well. After maybe 3 or 4 months, I noticed the light for "low coolant" that came on on certain times, i thought it was something that pertains to a/c,i took it to les schwab, and they told me that it has nothing to do with the a/c, in fact the a/c dont work..so anyways, I had taken this car at least 5 times already to get it serviced whenever "low oil" appeared..then a couple of weeks ago, when I was on my work, I sensed something really horrible, like burned rubber, it didn't show until one day i came to a red light and all i could see was smoke coming out of the hood..i pulled over to see what it was, it was the smoke coming thru and out of the engine..not to mention really cold nights driving home after school/work, and had the heater on, it blew out nothing but smoke..what could be the main problem? Would appreciate any suggestions and reccomendations..

it could also be a water pump failing - those Yamaha engines are quite funny about what issues causes what. Remember, it's not a Ford engine in there.

It could be so many different issues causing the symptoms, you'll need to have a good, high quality mechanic run a lot of tests on the motor, including coolant pressure checking, cylinder leak down, as well as regular compression checks. There needs to be more diagnostic done to your vehicle before anyone can determine exactly what the cause is.

everyone sounds right with the gaskets. i works in a garage for a while and you probally have a coolant leak which if it is leaking into your engine that is real bad and tearing down the engine may not even be enough most often in that situation we recomended a new engine cause you cant normally get out every bit of coolant that has leaked in. and given the year of the car you may want to see what a junk yard will give you for it and just get a new car instead of an engine. sorry.

White smoke is 100% from coolant getting into the combustion chamber. It could be simply a blown gasket, that is allowing coolant into the combustion chamber, or you've cracked a water journal either in the head or the block. Either way it will require the motor to be torn down to determine where the problem is. Either way, it will be expensive.

to me it sounds like you might have a blown head gasket where antifreeze is leaking into your oil which is causing the white smoke or your rings in your engine are worn.

i have a lot of experience workin on 4.6 fords but the only reason they smoke is becouse the valve guide seals go bad, sounds like you need a chevy! jk do a pressure test and a compression test and see if it may be the rings best thing to do is get a pro
