She's most famous for her love triangle with King Arthur and Lancelot. Because of her there was terrible tension between the two men. Camelot falls because of a lust-filled woman.

Guinevere (Welsh Gwenhwyvar) was wife of Arthur and daughter of King Leodegrance of Cameliard in Malory's fictional King Arthur stories.
Welsh tradition calls her father Gogrvan or Ocvran. Other accounts make her Mordred's sister, or a Roman noblewoman.
In a very late version of the Arthur legend she was lover of Lancelot, turning the story into a Greek-style tragedy. Many different versions exist of her last days - one states that she died as prisoner of the Picts, while Arthur still lived.
Even when the Arthur legends were first being written down (during the 12th century) they were considered fairy tales rather than accounts of real events. The names of people and places are almost always fanciful and invented. Even Guinevere's name has been argued over, some people stating it comes from Saxon Winifred rather than Welsh.

She was the inspiration behind King Arthur. In 1136 in "Life of Gildas" she was abducted and subsequently rescued by Arthur after a year at Glastonbury. She was possibly also the inspiration for the sleeping beauty tale...in a german version called Diu Crone she is put into a magical sleep inside a castle surrounded by snakes. If she were born today her name would be Jennifer...the modern day Guinevere translation.

Guinevere was the legendary queen consort of King Arthur. She is most famous for her love affair with Arthur's chief knight Lancelot - but Arthur's eventual downfall is also brought about in part by Lancelot, whose affair with Arthur's wife Guinevere destroys the unity of Arthur's court.
