I need the name of a unique but well known classical music (i will be remixing it into a trance/ techno style)

I am currently working on a little animation project. The basic idea is an old man walks into 'classical music place', he is all alone apart from the performer and falls asleep where he dreams he gets up kicks the performer out, the piano transforms to a DJ deck and he starts doing a funky techno/ trance mix of it, untill he wakes up...

thank you

Here why don't you try this is, it will be a pretty big challenge I think, but a techno remix of it would be pretty sweet.

'classical music place' as in a Concert Hall?

as much as im a tiny bit offended by people kicking performers off the stage, this is an art project, so meh.

I would suggest (since it is only a piano i presume) Piano Sonata No. 14 by Beethoven commonly known as "Moonlight Sonata" It is soft, and dreamy, and many times used as baby sleep music.

Try Shostakovitch. His stuff is weird enough without remix, but to each his own

Try his..

Piano Concerto No. 2 in F, Opus 102 - Movements 1 and 3

Fire of Eternal Glory - central theme would be easy to remix

Ooooooooo!!!!!! Use "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Modest Mussorgsky!!! This is perfect because there is a promanade (walking) theme of a person walking through a painting exhibition. Then each piece in between is the person actually going into each painting.

How about Richard Wagner's "The Ring of the Nibelung": it's between 15-16 hrs. long, depending on the tempo of the conductor(s): 4 complete operas in sequence.

You can't get any more unique than that.

Have a ball,

Wotan

How about Chopin's 24 Preludes (Op. 28). They don't necessarily have to be played in order, and you could omit some of the slower pieces.

Maybe something by Libera? They have used quite much po p beat in their music and some of the melodies have been borrowed from classical music...

I was going to say "Stairway to Heaven", by Led Zepplin. That's classic rock!

But just about any Pink Floyd tune will do... my favorite album is Dark Side of the Moon.

OK, something classic...

Bach's Toccata & Fugue?
Aerosmith's "Dream On"? Sorry, couldn't resist. But I did see Steven Tyler do it on a harpsichord once...
Handel's Water Music?
Pachelbel's Canon?

Good luck!
