The reason glasses may not shine is (as someone else mentioned) likely because of hard water. Hard water leaves a foggy residue which has an alkaline pH. You need something with an acidic pH to remove or neutralize the hard water. The easiest, most inexpensive and natural way is with vinegar. If you are using a dishwasher, just pour white distilled vinegar into the rinse aid dispenser. If you are hand washing, after washing with soap, let them sit in the sink with warm water and white vinegar (about 1/4 cup should work).

I use Jet-dry and still have this problem. Put bleach in one glass, almost full. Let is set a few seconds and pour to the next one and so on. Then, put the bleach back into the bleach container unless it is a different color. Just rinse with hot water and let air dry. Sparkle city! (Or, run your dishwasher on normal wash and instead of adding soap, on the first fill, after it fills, open the washer and pour in 1/2 cup of bleach. Let the machine run the whole cycle. Dishes are clean and will sparkle!

If you are using a dishwasher, just add a good splash of regular white vinegar to every load. I just pour it in the door then close it and wash as usual. They will sparkle. If its by handwashing, just make sure you dry them well.

If they're dull, they probably have hard water buildup on them.
You can use delimer, or use jet dry in the dishwasher.
