if it is for ruby, sapphire, emerald, leaf, or fire - there will be NO MORE events. the last event ever for the gameboy advance generation was on september 30, 2006. [http://www.psypokes.com/rselgfr/events.php ]
for the DS games, you can find out when events are by checking [http://www.pokemon.com ] - if none are listed, there are none set up

you'll have to find out when new events are coming up for the DS
any others are already over and you cannot get them
you can still trade for them though
oaks letter and the other 2 items to get arceus darkrai and shaymin are HACKED items. Its the only way to get them right now
darkrai is only available from pokemon movie 7, and that event has passed already

well when you get like a toys r us catalog they will say if there having a Event. This year was Manaphy.
