Is your baby a wolf in human clothing? ;)
Seriously, though, the only "problem" is what you make of it.
Make the kid feel embarrassed about it, now,
and you can start saving up for major psychiatric care, later.
If you're THAT concerned about how a baby looks,
then consult your doctor, not a bunch of strangers.
To put it another way: chill.

The canine or eye teeth would be the third tooth over on each side, top and bottom. My daughter got her two bottom front teeth (central incisors), and then the 2nd teeth over at the top (lateral incisors) and is still missing her top front teeth. While there is a common order for teeth to come in, it's not unusual to vary.
They wouldn't have to pull them. They are just baby teeth. Intervention might be taken with adult teeth. The adult canines can sometimes look more fang-like in some people, but this usually wouldn't affect the rest of the teeth. This might have been the case with your sister. The filing down thing can be more for cosmetic reasons. I know of canines or pre-molars being removed for orthodontic purposes to make more room. Though, the removal of the fang-like canines, was probably more of a cosmetic selection to achieve same purpose.

My son grew theses teeth first, at around a year, and did not get any more teeth until 17 mos. He did not have any problems, and I always thought it was cute.... He was a vampire for halloween that year :)
He is 2 1/2 now, and he has most of his teeth. The doctor had told me that they were a little concerned at the time, I guess it is not a very common way for the teeth to come in, but since it did not bother him, it was okay.
As for filing them or pulling them, they won't do this unless the teeth are causing problems, like if she were biting down and making her mouth bloody, or causing injury or pain to herself.
I think it will be fine. Best of luck!

No, its not considered a problem or abnormal. It's unusual, but really, tooth eruption in babies is all over the place - some kids get teeth within 2 months, some don't have any teeth until 18 months. As long as her teeth are coming in straight and not crowded, its not an issue!

I think by what you call canine I would call "eye" teeth but I'm not sure. My 9 month old has 2 top, 2 bottom and is about to pop in the other top 2 and 1 eye tooth.
_______UU_______ <--- top now
______uUUuv_____<---- whats popping through
the "v" would be what I consider her eye tooth hehe the sharp pointy one straight down from her eye, when shes having a real bad teething day it makes her eyes look droopy and watery.
I've never heard of anyone needing them pulled.. why would that be needed? even with just 4 teeth my daughter bites her tongue and stuff.. its just normal.
I guess best would be to talk to your pediatrician or children's dentist.

I think it is actually more usual to get the first molars before the canines, but there is a lot of variation so what is "normal" is not that important. Pediatrics and dentistry have advanced a lot since the 70s so I would take anything your mom says with a grain of salt.

That is WRONG! My baby is 19 months old now and she too was a cute little vampire :) But now all her teeth are in and she is fine....don't worry everyone is different. Just take lots and lots of pictures, they look adorable.

Depends on if it's ankylosed (roots fused in the bone), impacted or missing. Normally it should only take a few months though! Good luck

Yes very normal. Some babies get their "vampire" teeth first! But its not uncommen, and some babies are born with teeth. No they will not pull them, they will fall out anyway.
