I would say no, unless they want to go through the rebuilding stages again, it would set them back 3-4years. Kitna did a good job but the offensive line is lacking in passing protection, gave up way too many sacks....I would concentrate on getting together a GOOD O-line, possibly trade down and get a couple more 2nd rounders, and another good linebacker/pass rusher...a lot of needs for the Lions they need to address besides QB

The Lions have holes all over the place. I think some of it will depend on Martz. Is he still going to coach? I think that they can plug in anybody into the receiver corp. I also think that they have so many holes to fill that they should be able to draft anybody.
Which also brings up the point that the drafts under Millen have been horrendous. How many players are still with the team that they have drafted? Last year only Calvin Johnson and Gerald Alexander have gotten any pt. Alma-francis took most of the year before seeing action. stanton on ir.
the other 4 guys got cut. getting only 1 or 2 players in each draft is not cutting it.
Kitna is tough as nails. But I also don't think he is a franchise QB. He can most likely fill the gaps for awhile, but especially consider that he has been a journeyman his whole career.

they need to see what they have in stanton, for sure. however, they must make an attempt to move up and take long in the draft. maybe package a fat, overrated defensive player and a draft pick for a higher pick? just an idea. while i'm not comparing him to marino, kitna is the best qb we've had in years. he's gotta have time to throw. the lions have bigger holes to fill than qb. like the guys in front of him.

I think it all depends. Depends on if Marinelli is still the coach. A new coach will want his own guys and it starts with the man calling the signals. Since I believe he will still be around, I think Kitna will still be the QB, with Stanton on his heels (I think he's like Kitna but even tougher and with more mobility) That being said, I think Stanton will be a good QB in the NFL because of the good stats he was able to put up with a team that was really sub par with the competition they were playing.

Drew Stanton is the MAN!
He can guide the Lions to a winning season, if.........
The owner allows the coach to run the team and stops sending plays down from the owners box.....and.......
Matt Millen takes a long long long vacation to Bora Bora during the entire football season...........and..........
Marinelli can cure the attitude issues up, like the loser outlook and the team dissatisfaction.
Keep Stanton, dump Millen, have Bill Jr. take over the team, and get Marinelli some decent defensive backs!

Dante culpepper is both overweight and overaged, you could not construct a crew round previous veterans who will go away quickly like Culpepper and Kitna, they are there to provide up the bleeding, or make a very last ditch run to the playoffs, aswell as te4ach youthful quarterbacks. they could have the first %. of route, and maximum folk of followers received't settle for an Olineman or Dlineman, or any protecting participant quite as a volume one %. overall. immediately they ought to artwork on rebuilding self belief interior the franchise, a sparkling renewal at quarterback, the heisman trophy winner will provide the followers a touch bit desire. From there hopefully they could both commerce, and %. up some loose brokers on the line and protection.

They need OL and everywhere on defense.
It would be nice to see what Stanton can do. He is on IR this year and the Lions don't seem to be interested in playing either of the other backups for some reason.
