My company is giving a year end bonus for 2007 on Dec. 31. I will not be eligible per company policy as my last day of employment is Dec. 26. I understand this, but my company refuses to show me the written policy. What rights do I have to obtain a copy? Please be as specific as possible so I may have some leverage with my request to human resources.

Bonuses are basically a gift from the company.

The only employees who have the right to review it are the Board of Directors.

it fairly is now commonplace interior the economies cutting-edge state. the place I artwork we in many cases get bonuses precise earlier Christmas, yet this previous year we did no longer without being given each and all the interest. i'm exceptionally particular they could legally exchange issues every time they could desire to, in the event that they financially can not have the money for to furnish out will strengthen, then they won't provide them out, straightforward as that. i'm additionally thinking they're in all probability hoping that the staff could be information of this, and might fairly have a activity which will pay them usually, then get an advantage and then lose their interest. possibly in case you pass away your cutting-edge interest, and start up off looking someplace else you're able to desire to tell them you prefer them to place which you will get an advantage each year, or after each and each quarter, or whether they do it, and spot in case you get the interest. Their are a good number of people hurting financially precise now, and the reality you will possibly even ask this question is ridiculous, be satisfied you have a paying interest and recover from your self!

I totally agree with Feeling Mutual.

Unless it explicitly written in your job offer or employment contract then you have no right to contest the company's policy on giving bonuses.

If you understand this policy as you state, then why do you still question it? If you were told this is their policy, and you have known it for as long as you have worked there, why do you question it?
You may ask for a copy of bylaws, but then again, maybe you received one when hired. If you cause problems, you might alienate yourself with this place and never be able to put them down as having worked there for fear of negative feedback.
Think about it before pursuing it.
