My doctor seemed kinda discouraged. He tried to see if he could help my cervix open but he couldn't. He basically told me that the baby would be late. Has anyone just gone into labor without being dilated? Did you water just break? How close to your due date? If anyone could give me some info that would calm me down I'd appreciate it. Any nurses who could shed light on why I'm not dilating at 39 weeks?

I wish so badly that the baby would come this coming week because my husband is getting his only vacation of the year. I'm miserable because I live 8 hours from my family, have no friends here, and it's basically going to be just my husband and me for Christmas and New Years, unless the baby comes. I know I'm complaining prematurely because there are some women out there that are pregnant for 42+ weeks...I'm just feeling sorry for myself because it is Christmas, and I so badly wanted my baby to be here. I feel like the doctor took away my hope.

Oh yeah, I'm 100% sure of conception date because I was charting my cycles, so I know my due date is accurate.

Basing human gestation on 40 weeks is only an average. Every woman and every pregnancy is different. Full-term pregnancy can be anywhere between 37-42 weeks and be normal for that woman, that pregnancy, and that baby. Many doctors say any time 2 weeks either side of your due date is when the baby will come. There is no "magic" in reaching 40 weeks. In many pregnancies, especially with first babies, it is not unusual to have no signs of impending labor when at the doctor's office, but a few hours or days later labor suddenly begins when you least expect it. Some women do begin to dilate days or even weeks before delivery, but some women don't do any dilating until labor has begun. Your baby will not be "late" but will be born when your body and your baby are ready. I am mom to 4 children who were all born past their due dates by 9 days, 11 days, 5 days, and 7 days. We tried several things to "help" things along, such as walking a lot, having sex, driving down bumpy roads, scrubbing floors on my hands and knees, eating spicy foods, and having a "rough" vaginal exam. Ultimately, my babies arrived on their schedule despite my desire to have them come when I was more than ready and our attempts to make things happen quicker. With my first, I did not dilate until I was in labor. My second 2 I was dilated 1-4 cm's for several weeks before delivery. My 4th, I had Gestational Diabetes and was monitored closely. At 41 weeks, I had no signs of labor, no effacing, no dilating, nothing to indicate this pregnancy would be over any time soon. My doctors didn't want me to go past 42 weeks so I was given an insertion of prostaglandin gel to hopefully get my cervix to at least begin thinning. Instead, I had a bad reaction to it and I began having 6 minute contractions (whereas previously I had none, not even noticeable Braxton Hicks). Things went into overdrive and our daughter was born a mere 7 1/2 hours after the gel insertion. Basically, I went from no indication of labor to delivering a baby a few hours later. My water only broke on its own with one of my labors (#3), the other 3, my water was broken for me at the hospital to help move labor along. Every pregnant woman reaches a point in a full term pregnancy when they just wish the baby would be born already. Unfortunately, the last few weeks are a waiting game and despite even medical intervention, a baby will arrive when he/she is good and ready.

you due date could be off. so its possible you won't dilate just yet. but you know dialtion can happen at anytime like you could go right this minute from a 0 to 2 you know. dilation is no indication of when labor will start. you could dilate really fast and go into labor today. theres really no telling. its just easier when you go through it slowly. some women go from baby put high cervix closed 0% effaced to bam an hour later the baby drops the plug falls out they are like a 4 and thinned on completely. so don't worry it'll happen.

this is my friend situation actually...The doctor tell her that they gonna give her a shot(i dont know what you call it) so she can labour because shes already 39 weeks and 2 days, they also tell her to be calm and dont do a lot of work just walk and walk...Doctors said its normal because some times the cervic is not ready yet for that..but on her 39 weeks and 3rd day she start to dilated...The baby s normal and also not a ceasarian.....That ok....Sometimes due date are also not that fix to the date...Just wait and you willbe ok..

With the newer types of insulin these days, diabetic diets aren't necessarily as restrictive as they used to be. Read here https://tr.im/IClGp
As with any medicine or diet change, you should discuss it with your doctor. Fruits, both fresh and dried, have a natural sugar in them that will raise blood sugar levels, so be careful about eating too much. Not sure about the nuts. Moderation is always the key. I've been diabetic for 18 years and just recently changed insulin types. I love it because it gives me more freedom in when and what I eat.

DUE DATE ARE NOT WRITTEN IN STONE!!!! I'm sorry but the baby can come two weeks before to two to three weeks after!!! The baby will get here when the baby and your body are ready to be born. Unless some things happens in the meantime you're just going to have to wait.

WALK!!! WALK WALK WALK! CHOOSE A LOCAL PARK OR TRAIL. TAKE A FRIEND OR COMPANION FOR COMPANIONSHIP. ALWAYS TAKE A CELL PHONE FOR EMERGENCY REASONS. AND MAYBE PEPPER SPRAY OR A BAT OR STICK FOR PROTECTION (U NEVER KNOW). WITH MY FIRST SON I WAS COMING CLOSE TO MY DUE DATE AND HAD NO SIGNS OF LABOR. I TOOK A FRIEND TO A LOCAL BRIDGE THAT PEOPLE WALK OVER FOR EXCERCISE AND WE WALKED EVERYDAY FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND MY SON CAME EXACTLY ON HIS DUE DATE. EVEN IF U JUST WALK AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD OR YOUR HOUSE. WALKING HELPS!! NOT ONLY THAT IT HELPED EASE MY LABOR WITH MY SECOND SON WHO WAS BORN A DAY BEFORE HIS DUE DATE! AND IF YOU DONT LIKE TO WALK OR EXERCISE GETTING INTO THE HABIT OF THIS MAKES IT EASIER AFTER LABOR TO GET BACK INTO SHAPE FAST!! GOOD LUCK IN EVERYTHING!
