Men do it all the time, but I just realized I've never heard of women doing it. Would you? I think I would....

No I wouldn't. She's her own person and should have her own name. I don't like it when males do it either...they already have the last name, they don't need the first one too. I think it's arrogant.

My daughter's friend is named after her mother, so everyone refers to her as "little" Adrienne....and she's 21! Her brother is named after his dad too...."little" Alex...and he's 24 with a wife and kid.

I would never do that, but I know 3 people who have. In fact, they were all latinas. Remember how in Legends of the Fall, that little girl who ended up as Brad Pitt's wife was named after her mother? Her name was Elizabeth 2. You may have been looking at Brad too much, back in the day, to pay attention to the girl's name. Or at least *I* was.

I have heard of many women doing that and known quite a few

My daughter has the same middle name as I do, because she was born on the same day as me. Not sure if you count that though

No... my name is actually my mom's nickname so whenever someone called the house and said the name we always had to ask "Mother or daughter?" It was so annoying!!!

I also knew 3 boys growing up that all had the dad's same first name and the sister had the mom's name. I hated calling their house! You always either had to use their nicknames, middle names, of go into an explanation about who you were trying to talk to... Sorry this answer's so long BTW. =)

I do not know if I would or wouldn't, Probably not though. I hear a lot of names i like all the time. I want to use them for my kids.
I did have a friend, she was named after her mom. Big mistake for her mom, she was able to withdraw money from her mom checking account with no problem and stole over $5000.

I've always thought that the "Jr." thing was the dumbest tradition ever.Every person I've ever met with their' parent's exact name has some horror story or another regarding mixed-up phone calls, mail, jury duty, etc.I even knew someone who had trouble buying his house because of his father's bad credit! If you want your' child to carry your' name,I think it's much better to make it their' middle name. The good thing about that is,you can do it as many times as you want.

So,to answer your' question,no.Only once have I ever met a girl named after her Mother, and she hated it.

In my family, it's tradition to give the oldest daughter the same middle name as the mother so I have a different first name than Mom but her middle name.

Now I joke that's my dog's middle name...

I love my name (Emily), but I think it might be weird. Maybe her middle name would be similar, like Emma, but I wouldn't name her the same thing. I don't like it when men do it either...I mean, my father is named after his father, but I just don't like it. I'm a very original person. I like diversity. I like to hear different names.

Absolutely not. I was named after my dad and granddad (really) and I am the only girl with 2 brothers. I gave my kids all exotically different names. No repeats for me.
