We tried taking the doorknob off and can't even get it off. No key and the turn lock actually still turns and the mechanism inside is moving. Just not the part that is inside the doorjamb.

Try slipping an old credit card in there and "card" the door open. The screws to remove the doorknob may be on the inside.

What is this? Just use a screwdriver and take the two screws out that is holding the doorknob into the door....remove the whole doorknob and get a new one at the hardware store....wont unlock from the inside, is someone on the inside like a kid??? put a key on a piece of newsaper and slide it under the door to the inside.

Typically, there is a small hole in the center of the outer knob that you can poke something (like an ice pick) in and release the lock.

Also if you look closely at the knob, there might be a small metal tab on the shaft which is what is holding the knob on. If you push in on that you might be able to get the knob off.

Also, where are the hinges - if they're where you can get to them, you might be able to knock out the hinge pins.

try replacing it with a knew one.
