Salt licks are very important for your rabbit as they insure that your rabbit is getting an appropriate amount of water for proper digestion. I would recommend the iodized salt licks (they are pinkish/purple rather than white), as they have many more minerals than salt which your rabbit needs. Rabbits are hind gut fermentors, with similar digestive tracts to horses. With my young rabbits, I usually free feed pellets and hay until they are full grown. I would caution against giving your little one vegetables and fruit (unless very sparingly!) until their digestive system has matured, as it may cause diarrea resulting in dehydration. Dehydration is very dangerous in young rabbits. Enjoy your new baby!

The health benefits are that your rabbit will have excess salt and die (much in the same way a human would).
All a 13 week old rabbit needs to eat is: -
1) Unlimited hay
2) Extruded pellets

I dont see any problem with giving it a try. Some show rabbits are given corn oil for their coats. You could also try mineral salt licks, vitamin drops, yogurt drops. All of these are treats that provide extra minerals. I would just put a few drops on your rabbits pellet food and see how it goes. Good Luck

RE:
what are the benefits of giving my rabbit a salt lick?
Hi! My gorgeous 13-week-old bunny is on a diet of a rack of forage per day and 30g Excel Supa Bunny Junior, as recommended by our vet. My bunny loves salt licks! Would it hurt to give them to him? What are the health benefits? Thanks!

There are no health benefits, and I'd recommend that you do not set out a salt lick for a rabbit.

By giving a Salt lick it'll make the rabbit thirsty therefore it'll go and get a drink and not dehydrate. =]

too much salt is bad but no salt is bad so have certain time you let him lick his salt block and then take it away until later
