I am in the Army. The army can cause a lot of problems to yuor health. Unlike most jobs in the army you are required to run anywhere from 3-5 times a week at a distance of 2-5 miles. Also road marches, and combat related injuries can cause problems in the future. Most people in the army will develop problems with their Feet, Back , Knees and other body parts. So yes I think the military should be able to have free health care after they get out and need to have improved health care while still in the service.

Though America is not "all about war," the military now and vets absolutely should get top quality care. They EARN it and make everything else possible.

BTW, the VA has a set budget which means they make anyone eligible for care file a "means test" each year to see if they can access ANY service and what their co-pays would be. We're talking RATIONED care of those who did the most for the country.

Those still in the service see all kinds of hassles with getting care.

They should get FAR better! All politicians do is sit there and talk! Our fighters are out there RISKING THEIR LIVES for us! And don't anyone DARE say the war in Iraq is stupid! What would you have done if your mother was in one of those buildings on September 11th, 2001? Your father? Brother? Sister? Aunt or Uncle? Cousin? Friend? People DIED because of those terrorists from Iraq. Your fellow Americans, living and breathing in this country. OUR country, to protect and defend. To live in, work in, love in. Be SAFE in. If you think this war is wrong, think about that. Think about what might have happened if we didn't intervene. They might have come back, and you could've been next. Just think.

Since it's America and "All men are created equal" everyone should get the same health care as a politician. rich, poor, man, woman, child, etc.

Actually, as federal employees they are eligible for the same benefits....the difference is that he politicians usually make enough money to afford private care which, as we all know, is far superior to government run care.

Thank you for your insightful argument against placing health care in the government's hands...

Well, I have to take exception to "America being all about war"--America isn't-the right'-wing is.

But othrwise you are correct. And our men and women in the services--and veterans--used to have outstanding health care. Until Bush and the neocons gutted those programs.

I personally believe they should get better treatment than anyone. They are risking their lives to save ours. My cousin is in the Navy and I think he gets treated like crap for protecting our country.

Easy answer, YES. Those who serve on the whim of those who send us should get top notch medical care, not only in the service but once they leave the service...

Yes, absolutely! If being a soldier is the lowest profession in the world, a politican must be somewhere in Hell.
