I presume that you'll be staying through New Year's, as opposed to going there just for Xmas and then just for New Year's, so check out the following links (also, check out daily newspapers for special event sections; ask your friends or hotel staff for more info):

check out the oyster bar downtown northwest of the library. Also go to the chicago institute of art. Hit the after Christmas shopping at any of the malls or downtown, especially Marshalls. My hubby always stops at th jazz record mart downtown while I go over to the mile.

I wish I was there!

Breakfast at Fox and Obel's
Lunch at Pizza Uno's
Dine at a great Persian restaurant north of Michigan Avenue whose name i can't bloody well remember now!...but it is perfect!

The view from the Hancock centre is superior to the Sears Tower, and it has a revolving restaurant!

The navy pier will be freezing but bracing! Especially before eggs benedict with shaved truffle at Fox and Obel's for breakfast!!!!!! And a big steaming mug of the best Chai Latte!! Much superior even compared to Starbucks which is admittedly quite good!

I am envious! Have fun!!!
