We with canadian driving liscences will go to Califonia for 5 days holiday. It is Ok to rent a car and drive there legally with our canadian liscences.

Yes you can legally drive in the US with a valid Canadian license. Be aware that if you are cited for a violation you may have to post a bond to cover the fine before being allowed to leave.
