... there is no trick, or any abstraction in this, just a simple question to ask yourself – do I like the room I am in? It is always a real room made out of bricks and mortar, a normal containment of four walls, with doors and windows.

In response to my question you might say – yes, I do like the room I am sitting in right now, and answering questions posed by people sitting somewhere equally likeable. If this is the case then there are pretty good chances that you know what you like, or dislike, in your world in general. But if the answer is a negative, then you have two options: either it is the time you left that room to find somewhere you liked better, or you would set down to work, and did not rest doing whatever it is that needs to be done until you started liking what you have around you.

I suggest that wherever you are, office, home, public place, take time to ask youself this simple question, answer honestly, and then face the situation.

This is a part of practical philosophy otherwise it could be a deep concept. But one may never underestimate the influence that one's immediate environment can have on the mind.

As far as I can conclusively make any statements about my surroundings, I think that I "like" the room I am in. I have filled it possessions that I find appealing, and I am currently engaged in answering this question because I find it interesting and enjoyable. If I did not like the room, or answering this question, it would seem illogical for me to be doing it, unless I was being coerced into doing so, or it was some kind of dull chore/work.

Physical environment can have great effect upon individuals, and it is always good to have a place where you can go and feel peaceful and relaxed.

A simple question and a good one.

I'm sitting here answering questions, in a room I like, and am enjoying expressing myself. I look back at the subjects of my entries and see I answered the open questions at the top of the psychology list today. Turns out there are alot of disappointed and bored people today, but I am honestly not one of them.

I do question my own addiction of being drawn to this forum and answering questions, and see that for me it is enjoyable, yet also I can spend too much time on the entertainment aspects. I still want to make this part of each morning, but I give myself a time limit so as not to get too carried away. I have set a limit of one hour, yet today it's already at two...

I'll stay in this room for a while, I feel good and energetic, and ready to move onto the next part of my day.

my first thought was to say 'no' because i'm at work....but as i looked around, i thought 'i guess i do like this room' -- in itself anyway -- and i don't mind the job (mostly -- it gives me a lot of down time to be here), just that i don't always like my co-worker dujour or some of the people that come into the office.

however, if i were at home, i would have to say definitively 'no, i do not like this room' no matter which room i were in because our house needs a lot of work either we can't afford or don't know how to do ourselves. and i'd like more privacy rather than being in a neighborhood between 2 neighbors both with young kids.

however, even with wanting other things, i am content...for now
