Have you seen the trailer? It's so cheesy and cartoony, even if it isn't good, they have been very true to the original. It'll probably be stupid, but at least they tried.

They are 0 for everything so far. Transformers blew, the new Knight Rider is going to be a griggin Ford Mustang! Hollywood ruins all the originals

Don't forget the fact that Transformers was a load of junk too. Talk about not sticking true to the original...
Sure, they can remake it. But it's just going to be a bunch of eye candy with a crummy plot, and it's likely not going to be accurate in terms of vehicles used. Don't hold your breath!

If they remain true to the "original" premise then it may truly be possible. With the boom in both CGI and auto-racing (NASCAR) the odds are that it may do very well. On type of that, you have The Wachowski Brothers directing with Larry co-scripting with the original Japanese creator.

I mean, sure, they can throw a bunch of money at it and make the movie with enough special effects to get people to buy tickests. Whether or not a decent script can survive the film's producers is highly doubtful, though.

Oh believe me, they will undoubtedly TRY... the question is, will it suffer the same fate as the catastrophes you have just mentioned!
